The Calgary Flames have made their fourth addition at the 2023 NHL Draft. With their fourth-round pick, 112th overall, the Flames have selected forward Jaden Lipinski from the Western Hockey League’s Vancouver Giants.
Lipinski was ranked 107th by FC Hockey and was the 49th ranked North American skater by the NHL’s Central Scouting Service.
A December 2004 birthday, Lipinski is a product of Scottsdale, Arizona. He’s listed at 6’3″, 198 pounds and is a right shot forward who kinda plays all over the place. He had 51 points in 66 games with the Giants in 2022-23.
Here’s a snippet from FC Hockey’s profile on Lipinski:
Lipinski has shown significant development in his offensive arsenal early in the season, surprising many with his newfound confidence in possession. Previously known for a simplistic north/south style of play with limited skillset, Lipinski has displayed a more prominent intelligence, vision, and predictive ability. While his improvements on the offensive side of the puck have been impressive, his size and strength are the first aspects to capture attention. Boasting physical maturity ahead of most of his peers, Lipinski excels at using his posterior to shield the puck, and his enhanced feel for the puck combined with his sturdy frame make him a force in traffic and tight spaces. His high-effort, two-way mentality, coupled with his NHL size and intelligence, should place Lipinski firmly on the radar, however his sluggish and deliberate movement on the ice may hold him back.
