Did Dustin Wolf win another award? Is the sky blue? The answers to both those questions is yes.
The Calgary Wranglers goaltender has taken home the 2023 American Hockey League President’s Award for player excellence and added it to his collection. He was given the honour at a banquet late last week.
There aren’t many other words to describe the season that Wolf had that haven’t been used already. He won the AHL’s MVP award, the Aldege “Baz” Bastien Memorial Award for best goaltender, the Harry Holmes Award for lowest goals against average, and was a member of the first All-Star team. He was utterly phenomenal.
Whether or not Wolf will be with the NHL club is still unknown at this point, and there’s reason to believe he will be in the AHL due to him not being waiver eligible. However, it feels as if he doesn’t have much else to prove in the AHL, and it’s only a matter of time before he makes a dent in the big show.
