The City of Winnipeg is a nice enough town with a good arena, a bunch of fun things to do around the Forks, and they have an airport. The Calgary Flames head to this bustling metropolis on Wednesday evening to face the Winnipeg Jets in their seventh (of eight) exhibition games. It might be the last chance for a few bubble players to make a good impression.
Puck drop is after 6 p.m. MT on the Flames website and Sportsnet 960 The Fan!

Projected lineups

Projected Flames lines (via Wes Gilbertson):
Jonathan Huberdeau – Elias Lindholm – Tyler Toffoli
Andrew Mangiapane – Nazem Kadri – Dillon Dube
Radim Zohorna – Adam Ruzicka – Blake Coleman
Milan Lucic – Kevin Rooney – Brett Ritchie
MacKenzie Weegar – Chris Tanev
Nikita Zadorov – Rasmus Andersson
Noah Hanifin – Michael Stone
Dan Vladar starts for the Flames, backed up by Dustin Wolf.
Welcome to the Flames, Radim Zohorna! Per Wes, Zohorna will wear #67 and likely make his pre-season debut for the club against the Jets. Aside from that, it’s a bunch of NHL regulars, with the only locks not dressed being Jacob Markstrom and Mikael Backlund essentially.
Projected Jets lines (via Ken Wiebe):
One defensive pairing will be scratched.
Connor-Scheifele-Ehlers
Perfetti-Toninato-Lambert
Barron-Lowry-Appleton
Maenalanen-Gustafsson-Gagner
Morrissey-DeMelo
Dillon-Schmidt
Samberg-Heinola
Stanley-Pionk
Old friend David Rittich starts for the Jets, backed up by Arvid Holm.

Unavailable Flames

A few Flames are unavailable for tonight:
  • Oliver Kylington is on personal leave from the team
  • Emilio Pettersen, Martin Pospisil and Dennis Gilbert are day-to-day with injuries

What to watch

Aside from curiosity regarding how Zohorna looks with his new team, there are three brand-new defensive pairings featuring five defensive locks (and Michael Stone) in different configurations than we’re used to seeing.
Among forwards, the Flames are bringing three regular lines, and we’re seeing both Kevin Rooney and Adam Ruzicka used as centres (after Rooney was used on the wing and played well on Monday).
