Flames got soundly outchanced tonight, but mostly because the Sharks had all the PP’s. At ES, the Flames kept things close even though they led for part of the evening. They still aren’t generating a lot, but suppressing a team like the Sharks at 5on5 on the road is a decent night’s work.
In a bit of a reversal, the Flames first line was the best on the night in terms of chance and possession differentials. They spent more time in the offensive zone despite tough mtach-ups and looked good on the cycle. They had a few shots blocked and whiffed on a few others, but it was a good first audition for Backlund/Iginla/Cammalleri.
Glencross went down early which is bad news for the depth. Brodie and Sarich also had their worst night yet in terms of chances against.
