Face-offs
This one started out hot and heavy, but predictably descended into a trap and chip fest after that. The Preds and Flames took turns dominating in the opening stanza with both putting up long chances strings (aided by PP’s) and then neither club was able to do much beyond the odd shift here and there. The bad ice hampered the action a bit, but both coaches really seemed to be playing for extra time as well.
Nothing very noteworthy in individual stats aside from the uncharaceristic struggles of Tim Jackman at ES. Iginla’s line didn’t give up much, but Trotz never really cares if whoever faces the other team’s big line creates anything. On the flip side, Iginla et al didn’t do much at ES either, although they were on for the Sarich tying marker which was enough to get them to OT this evening.
Flames now lead the league in S/O wins with 7. Their luck in extra time is going to run out sooner or later so I’m not so sure how indicative this run is of anything more than some good fortune. Not that I’m complaining, really…the Flames have been jobbed by the S/O for years.
