Mark Jankowski is officially back in the NHL, and it’s well-deserved. Meanwhile, his linemate, Andrew Mangiapane, is one of the top scorers in the AHL. There’s a fair bit to get excited about.

In case you missed it

  • Here’s last week’s update.
  • Dillon Dube and Matthew Phillips were named to team WHL for the CHL-Russia series.
  • Stockton’s Finest gives a brief overview of Stockton’s history and future as a hockey city.
  • And his recap of the Stockton-San Diego weekend series, including a Q&A with Ryan Huska (plus bonus commentary, which gave me a chuckle).

Rasmus Andersson – D, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current605531132.17
Change from last week3022200-6.42
Andersson added two assists at 5v5 play. He’s knocking on the door, as are a bunch of Flames defenders.

Austin Carroll – RW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current00000000
Change from last week
Carroll still hasn’t played. I have no clue what the plan is for him. Stockton regularly ices Luke Gazdic, by the way.

Dillon Dube – C/LW, Kelowna Rockets, WHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current10481259428.54
Change from last week3101010-8.83
Dube has slowed down in recent weeks, only scoring one goal in three outings this past week.

Zach Fischer – RW, Spokane Chiefs, WHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current51122229.51
Change from last week20111111.58
Last week’s drama that saw Fischer unemployed is over, as he was sent to the Spokane Chiefs. He’s settling in nicely, having collected a primary assist in two games this weekend.
Stats are total.

Spencer Foo – RW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current612322119.27
Change from last week312322119.27
Foo was trying really hard to get the monkey off of his back, shooting six times in a 5-2 loss to San Jose. He finally got that first pro goal (and assist) in the next game:

Adam Fox – D, Harvard Crimson, ECAC

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current
Change from last week
Only five days until Fox’s season begins, for real. He had an assist in Harvard’s 7-2 exhibition win over the USA Under-18 Team.

Josh Healey – D, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current40000000
Change from last week20000000
Healey is playing rotation duty with Ollas Mattsson, getting two games in and then swapping out for AOM for a game.

Mark Jankowski – C, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current653856451.39
Change from last week3123222-12.84
Jankowski, if you haven’t heard already, is off to the NHL while Jaromir Jagr sits out for a week or so. That’s a pretty good three game span to make an impression, maybe a permanent one.

D’Artagnan Joly – RW, Baie-Comeau Drakkar, QMJHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current402222210.25
Change from last week302222210.25
After returning from injury, Joly is finding his groove again. He picked up two assists in three games this weekend.

Pavel Karnaukhov – LW/C, CSKA Moscow, KHL/Zvezda, VHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
KHL current40000000
Change from last week00000000
VHL current1068141012843.62
Change from last week00000000
Didn’t play last week.

Morgan Klimchuk – LW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current621323219.27
Change from last week32022226.52
Klimchuk scored two goals this weekend. His start has not been as hot as it was last season, but he could slowly be shaping back into form.

Oliver Kylington – D, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current614553332.17
Change from last week3022211-6.42
Kylington continues his strong play, adding two more 5v5 assists this past week. You have to feel his arrival to the NHL is sooner rather than later.

Linus Lindstrom – C/LW, Skelleftea AIK, SHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current111011114.32
Change from last week2000000-0.96
Linus Lindstrom played two games for Skelleftea AIK last week.

Ryan Lomberg – LW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current60111116.42
Change from last week3000000-6.42
Lomberg was pretty quiet this week.

Andrew Mangiapane – LW/C, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current6371076564.23
Change from last week30554330
Mangiapane had himself a monster week, racking up five assists and sitting just a point out of the lead for AHL scoring. The real interesting thing will be seeing how he adapts to life without Jankowski, as that line (with Garnet Hathaway) was the best in the AHL. Marek Hrivik will step up to that 1C, so it’s not a steep drop off.

Mitchell Mattson – C/LW, Sioux Falls Stampede, USHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current70111113.28
Change from last week30111113.28
Mattson finally cracked the scoresheet in the USHL. He hasn’t started hot, but he that was similar to last season. He’ll get going again, but it really depends if he can beat previous highs or just top out around 30 points.

Adam Ollas Mattsson – D, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date20000000
Change from last week10000000
AOM only saw one game this past weekend. Nothing much happened.

Matthew Phillips – C/RW, Victoria Royals, WHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current13111728919551.22
Change from last week3224130-5.85
We are not worthy.

Emile Poirier – LW/RW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current611221112.85
Change from last week30111000
Still playing on the fourth line for some reason, Poirier picked up an assist this past weekend.

Brett Pollock – LW/C, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current10000000
Change from last week10000000
Pollock actually saw game action for the first time this season! He played a fourth line role and didn’t really get on the scoresheet.

Daniel Pribyl – RW/C, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current00000000
Still injured.

Rushan Rafikov – D, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, KHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current2415663315.17
Change from last week3000000-2.17
Rushan Rafikov played three games last week.

Adam Ruzicka – C/LW, Sarnia Sting, OHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date13101020915537.85
Change from last week32352310.95
Ruzicka, a fourth round draft pick, leads the OHL in shots on goal and powerplay goals, and is currently third in points and goals. The kid might be legit.

Hunter Shinkaruk – F, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date611212112.85
Change from last week30110100
Shinkaruk picked up another assist this weekend.

Hunter Smith – RW, Kansas City Mavericks, ECHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date20000000
Smith was reassigned to the KC Mavericks, which more or less spells doom for him. With two other Flames prospects still waiting for a chance in Stockton (Carroll, Pollock), being deemed the one with the smallest chance of taking a spot has to sting.

Filip Sveningsson – LW, HV71, Superelit/SHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
SHL current30000000
Change from last week10000000
Superelit current127714811519.13
Change from last week00000000
Sveningsson appears to be sticking around in the SHL for good. He’s been the “extra skater” in both HV71 games, but apparently that counts as a GP in the SHL. Whatever, it’s pretty good that he’s already climbed the ladder to this point early in the season.

Eetu Tuulola – RW, HPK, SM-Liiga

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current1320434310.85
Change from last week32022223.8
Tuulola only appears to like scoring goals in pairs every six or so games. He’s been silent except for two goal outbursts for HPK. He also appears to be getting more ice time, playing more than 20 minutes in his most recent game.

Juuso Valimaki – D, Tri-City Americans, WHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current725735223.78
Change from last week31231200
Valimaki has recovered from the flu, and kept up with his PPG point in Tri City. He’s also averaging four shots a game, for what it’s worth.

Tyler Wotherspoon – D, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Current612523132.17
Change from last week31230316.48
Wotherspoon had himself a week, scoring a goal and adding two assists while also keeping steady defensively. Has he done enough to earn a callup?

Jon Gillies – G, Stockton Heat

GPTOISV%SA
Current4118.970.912128
Change from last week2119.100.00260
Gillies stepped in and got two wins for Stockton, stopping 26/29 and 29/31 against San Jose, a .917 SV%.

Mason McDonald – G, Kansas City Mavericks, ECHL

GPTOISV%SA
Current0000
Change from last week0000
Hasn’t played yet, has the flu.

Tyler Parsons – G, Kansas City Mavericks

GPTOISV%SA
Current31800.889117
Change from last week2120-0.04475
A ripple effect from McDonald’s flu is that Tyler Parsons had to be left in for all eight goals (on 30 shots) in an 8-2 shellacking against the Fort Wayne Komets. He redeemed himself the next night, stopping 43/45 (0.956 SV%) again against the Komets.

David Rittich – G, Stockton Heat

GPTOISV%SA
Current2600.91458
Change from last week160-0.08622
People were very excited after Rittich began the season with a shutout. Then he allowed five goals on 22 shots. Such is goaltending.

Nick Schneider – G, Calgary Hitmen, WHL

GPTOISV%SA
Current116460.903329
Change from last week2125+0.00565
Schneider has slowly been better and better with every appearance between the pipes. Although inconsistency has plagued him throughout his career, perhaps he’s finally getting his game completely together.
