By Ryan Pike
4 years agoThe past few weeks have seen several key Calgary Flames prospects fall to injuries. But a few remain healthy and keep having good weeks.
In case you missed it:
- Last week’s update
- Your Hitmen report
- Your latest Stockton report
- Jakob Pelletier will miss Canada’s World Junior camp due to injury
- Dustin Wolf is headed to World Junior camp for the USA
Lucas Feuk- LW, AIK, Superelit/Allsvenskan
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Superelit up to date | 8 | 6 | 2 | 8 | 6 | 7 | 6 | 20.50 |
Change from last week | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -2.93 |
Allsvenskan up to date | 18 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1.73 |
Change from last week | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -0.10 |
With an eye towards keeping him busy, Feuk was shuttled between AIK’s junior and pro squads this week. He didn’t hit the scoresheet at either level.
Glenn Gawdin- RW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 22 | 8 | 14 | 22 | 8 | 13 | 6 | 39.85 |
Change from last week | 2 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 2 | +1.99 |
Gawdin continues to be a consistent 200-foot contributor, drawing penalties, scoring goals, and generally doing a lot of useful things for a two-way center.
Justin Kirkland- LW/C, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 20 | 4 | 14 | 18 | 8 | 11 | 7 | 35.87 |
Change from last week | 2 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 0 | +0.45 |
Kirkland might be the most useful player nobody’s really talking about. He plays well with good linemates and regularly gets points. The worst thing you can say about him is he’s a bit dependent on special teams for his points.
Demetrious Koumontzis- LW, Arizona State University, NCAA (Independent)
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 14 | 3 | 4 | 7 | 3 | 4 | 1 | 14.80 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -2.47 |
Koumontzis was held pointless in pair of games against Denver this weekend. Arizona State’s win on Friday was their first ever win over a top five ranked program, so there are still positives to be taken out of things.
Carl-Johan Lerby- D, Malmo Redhawks, SHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 20 | 4 | 6 | 10 | 5 | 6 | 4 | 21.72 |
Change from last week | – | – | – | – | – | – | – | – |
Lerby missed this week’s games due to injury.
Linus Lindstrom- C/LW, Skelleftea AIK, SHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 24 | 4 | 2 | 6 | 3 | 5 | 2 | 12.22 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -1.11 |
Playing on the fourth line, Lindstrom was held pointless in two games.
Ryan Lomberg- LW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 20 | 10 | 9 | 19 | 13 | 15 | 11 | 37.86 |
Change from last week | – | – | – | – | – | – | – | – |
Lomberg missed this week’s games due to injury.
Mitchell Mattson- LW, Michigan State, NCAA (Big 10)
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Change from last week | – | – | – | – | – | – | – | – |
Mattson was scratched for both of Michigan State’s games.
Andrew Nielsen- D, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 20 | 0 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 3.99 |
Change from last week | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -0.20 |
Nielsen was scratched on Wednesday and played on the weekend. He had zero points.
Ilya Nikolayev- C, Loko, MHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 29 | 13 | 12 | 25 | 18 | 19 | 14 | 21.91 |
Change from last week | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -2.53 |
Nikolayev played three games for Loko and failed to register a point.
Joshua Nodler- C/RW, Michigan State
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 14 | 2 | 3 | 5 | 2 | 5 | 2 | 8.53 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -1.22 |
Nodler played twice and didn’t hit the scoresheet.
Jakob Pelletier- LW, Moncton Wildcats, QMJHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 26 | 18 | 31 | 49 | 28 | 38 | 24 | 43.89 |
Change from last week | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | -0.82 |
Pelletier was injured in late in Thursday’s game against Victoriaville, but got a point before his injury. There’s no timeline for his return, but his injury reportedly isn’t considered terribly serious.
Emilio Pettersen- C/LW, Denver Pioneers, NCAA (NCHC)
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 16 | 2 | 11 | 13 | 6 | 7 | 5 | 29.25 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | -1.61 |
Pettersen had an assist and roughing penalty in wild 4-4 tie with Arizona State on Saturday night. There was a big scrum at the end of overtime, speaking to a surprisingly bitter rivalry between these two non-traditional college rivals.
Matthew Phillips- RW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 22 | 9 | 16 | 25 | 17 | 22 | 16 | 45.29 |
Change from last week | 2 | 2 | 2 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 2 | +3.45 |
Another week, another multi-point game for Phillips. He’s seventh in the AHL in scoring right now.
Luke Philp- C, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 20 | 9 | 3 | 12 | 9 | 11 | 9 | 23.91 |
Change from last week | 2 | 3 | 0 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | +3.98 |
Philp has been white hot lately. He had yet another multi-goal effort and continues to make rapid adjustments to the AHL game.
Martin Pospisil- C/LW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 6 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Change from last week | – | – | – | – | – | – | – | – |
Pospisil remains out with an upper body injury.
Milos Roman- C, Vancouver Giants, WHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 29 | 12 | 8 | 20 | 11 | 17 | 11 | 17.08 |
Change from last week | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -1.97 |
Roman was quiet in three games. He’s a good WHLer, but his offensive numbers and overall game need to be overwhelming as an overager to merit entry-level contract consideration.
Adam Ruzicka- C, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 21 | 3 | 7 | 9 | 7 | 7 | 5 | 18.98 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 1 | +2.20 |
Two games, two helpers for Ruzicka. Since his return from injury, he’s been very productive in a secondary role.
Filip Sveningsson- LW, IK Oskarshamn, SHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 14 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 6.98 |
Change from last week | – | – | – | – | – | – | – | – |
Sveningsson didn’t play any games this week due to an unspecified injury. He hasn’t played since Oct. 26.
Eetu Tuulola- RW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 18 | 5 | 6 | 11 | 7 | 9 | 5 | 24.35 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 1 | +1.93 |
Playing with fellow first year pros Ruzicka and Philp, Tuulola has been strong this season. He had two assists in two games this week.
Rinat Valiev- D, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 22 | 0 | 5 | 5 | 4 | 1 | 1 | 9.06 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | +1.09 |
Valiev bumped up his points by 20% with a secondary assist this week.
Dmitri Zavgorodniy- C/RW, Rimouski Oceanic, QMJHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 23 | 16 | 27 | 43 | 23 | 30 | 18 | 43.54 |
Change from last week | – | – | – | – | – | – | – | – |
Zavgorodniy is injured with a broken clavicle and out until February or March.
Jon Gillies- G, Stockton Heat
GP | TOI | SV% | |
Up to date | 10 | 551 | 0.893 |
Change from last week | 1 | 14 | -0.010 |
Gillies was chased from first period of only game he started this week after giving up three early goals.
Tyler Parsons- G, Kansas City Mavericks
GP | TOI | SV% | |
Up to date | 4 | 241 | 0.931 |
Change from last week | 2 | 120 | +0.028 |
Parsons dressed for all three games this week – a big step considering the Flames were bringing him along slowly – and he played well in both of his games and picked up a pair of wins on back to back nights.
Nick Schneider- G, Kansas City Mavericks/Stockton Heat
GP | TOI | SV% | |
AHL Up to date | 1 | 60 | 0.937 |
Change from last week | – | – | – |
ECHL Up to date | 15 | 899 | 0.901 |
Change from last week | 1 | 59 | -0.002 |
Schneider played once, giving up three goals in a loss. He made a few really nice stops, though.
Dustin Wolf- G, Everett Silvertips, WHL
GP | TOI | SV% | |
Up to date | 22 | 1292 | 0.943 |
Change from last week | 3 | 180 | +0.003 |
Wolf continued to do Wolf things. He won three games this week, giving up one, zero and three goals in each game. He stood on his head in Calgary and befuddled the Hitmen through two periods before Everett scored five unanswered goals to win.
Artyom Zagidulin- G, Stockton Heat
GP | TOI | SV% | |
Up to date | 14 | 632 | 0.893 |
Change from last week | 2 | 104 | +0.014 |
“Big Snag Zag” was sharp in relief of Gillies mid-week, then was sharp again in a 7-3 victory on the weekend. (He made 20 saves in a wild opening period to keep the Heat in it.) His numbers aren’t amazing, but he’s big when he needs to be and is quietly one of the AHL’s wins leaders. (Some of that is run support, some of that is him making saves when the game is on the line.)
