We’re well into the meat of the 2021-22 hockey season and there have been a lot of strong performances by Calgary Flames prospects so far. Also collectively impressive has been the performance of the Flames’ top minor league club, the Stockton Heat.
Let’s see how everybody’s doing so far!

This and that:

  • Johannes Kinnvall and Connor Zary are on the Flames’ injury reserve list after suffering training camp injuries. Tyler Parsons is non-roster currently.
  • Matthew Coronato and Harvard finally get going next week. They beat Brown over the weekend in a scrimmage.
  • Ilya Solovyov is with Stockton but hasn’t dressed yet.

Jack Beck – RW, Ottawa 67’s, OHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date88412712739.73
Change from last week3314444-2.65
Beck has been one of the most consistent (and strong) offensive contributors in the OHL, and he’s doing it on a fairly uneven 67’s team. Most of his points have been primary, suggesting that he’s driving Ottawa’s attack.

Jake Boltmann – D, University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish, NCAA/Big10

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date503321016.38
Change from last week2011100-1.82
Boltmann has been bouncing between Notre Dame’s second and third pairings, but he’s seemingly starting to find a bit of a groove. He’s registered points in consecutive weeks after not registering any in his entire freshman season.

Lucas Ciona – LW, Seattle Thunderbirds, WHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date51121219.91
Change from last week1000000-2.47
Ciona returned to Seattle’s lineup after missing two games due to a charging suspension.

Walker Duehr – RW, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date420222219.93
Change from last week2101111n/a
Duehr continues to add depth scoring for Stockton in the second week of the season. He’s playing on their third line with Justin Kirkland and Byron Froese.

Lucas Feuk – LW, Västerviks IK, HockeyAllsvenskan / Nybro Vikings IF, HockeyEttan

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Allsvenskan up to date41011118.14
Change from last week3101111+8.14
HockeyEttan up to date5022211n/a
Change from last week1000000
Feuk’s loan to HockeyEttan ended this week and he returned to Västerviks. He scored his first goal of the season, but with the log-jam of forwards on their roster he remain a fourth liner.

Ryan Francis – C, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date40000000.00
Change from last week2000000n/a
With Byron Froese and Glenn Gawdin beginning their AHL seasons, Francis has been shifted down to Stockton’s fourth line. He’s eligible to play for the QMJHL’s Saint John Sea Dogs this season, and it’ll be interesting to see how the Flames weigh his development in terms of a limited role in Stockton versus a bigger role in Saint John.

Glenn Gawdin – C, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date202220039.85
Change from last week2022200+39.85
Gawdin has returned to Stockton after a brief stint with the Flames to open the season. He’s playing with Luke Philp and Martin Pospisil and had a couple assists to begin his campaign.

Emil Heineman – LW, Leksands IF, SHL/CHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
SHL up to date132022227.52
Change from last week2000000-1.37
CHL up to date6112222n/a
Change from last week
Heineman had a fairly non-descript week for Leksands. He’s playing on their fourth line.

Cole Huckins – LW, Acadie-Bathurst Titan, QMJHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date1036976420.96
Change from last week3011100-5.65
Playing on the Titan’s first line, Huckins is getting lots of ice time. His offensive output was quiet this week, though.

Cole Jordan – D, Moose Jaw Warriors, WHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date20000000.00
Change from last weekn/a
Jordan hasn’t played since Oct. 2. He’s reportedly out week-to-week with an injury.

Rory Kerins – C, Soo Greyhounds, OHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date86814810746.35
Change from last week35510786+25.16
Kerins had more goals this week than he had games. He also had more assists this week than he had games. He was named the OHL’s player of the week for his offensive outburst.

Justin Kirkland – LW, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date430313128.89
Change from last week2202131+8.96
Kirkland had two goals while playing on Stockton’s third line, alongside Byron Froese and Walker Duehr.

Demetrios Koumontzis – LW, Arizona State University Sun Devils, NCAA/Ind.

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date821322210.24
Change from last week2011000+1.14
Koumontzis had an assist this week, but continues to be a depth player for the Sun Devils as a senior.

Yan Kuznetsov – D, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date40000000.00
Change from last week2000000n/a
Kuznetsov is playing on Stockton’s third pairing with Colton Poolman and has yet to register a point. He’s getting regular playing time, but one has to wonder if his development would be better served playing a big role with the QMJHL’s Saint John Sea Dogs rather than as a depth player with the Heat.

Connor Mackey – D, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date40111119.96
Change from last week2011111+9.96
Playing on Stockton’s top defensive pairing with veteran Andy Welinski, Mackey registered his first point of the season.

Mitchell Mattson – C, Michigan State University Spartans, NCAA/Big10

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date20000000..00
Change from last week1000000n/a
Mattson dressed for a game. He’s a depth player for the Spartans as a senior.

Ilya Nikolaev – C, Tri-City Storm, USHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date50332117.65
Change from last week2022211n/a
Nikolaev seems to be finding his rhythm in the USHL. He registered an assist and a stat correction assist from a prior week.

Josh Nodler – C, Michigan State University Spartans, NCAA/Big10

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date613423218.20
Change from last week2000000-9.11
Nodler is playing a ton of minutes as Michigan State’s top centre. He didn’t get any points this week, though.

Jakob Pelletier – LW, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date423543249.82
Change from last week2134321+29.89
Pelletier is beginning to adjust to the AHL level, and he’s doing so quickly. He had a very good week, setting up a game-winning goal and scoring another. He’s leading the team in points presently and is a player to watch right now.

Emilio Pettersen – LW, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date40000000.00
Change from last week2000000n/a
Pettersen has dropped down to the fourth line as a result of the line shuffling after Byron Froese and Glenn Gawdin joined the lineup. He’s one of the guys that could get lost in the shuffle with all the bodies up front.

Matthew Phillips – RW, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date422423239.85
Change from last week2213121+19.92
Playing on the top line with Jakob Pelletier and Adam Ruzicka, Phillips continues to do what Phillips does: chip in consistent offense and play a smart two-way game.

Luke Philp – C, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date412323229.89
Change from last week2112121+9.96
Philp is getting going offensively after a relatively quiet first weekend. He’s playing with Glenn Gawdin and Martin Pospisil.

Jérémie Poirier – D, Saint John Sea Dogs, QMJHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date10461095523.29
Change from last week3145422+6.66
Poirier had a heck of a productive week, primarily at even strength, doubling his season-to-date point production. His defensive game is still a work in progress, but he’s not nearly as reliant on the power play for offense as he’s been in recent years.

Colton Poolman – D, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date40000000.00
Change from last week2000000n/a
Poolman is playing on Stockton’s third pairing with Yan Kuznetsov and has yet to register a point.

Martin Pospisil – C, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date40111119.96
Change from last week2011111+9.96
Pospisil is currently playing on what’s nominally Stockton’s second line alongside Luke Philp and the returning Glenn Gawdin. He registered his first point of the season.

Adam Ruzicka – C, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date413434339.85
Change from last week2112222n/a
Ruzicka is a fixture up the middle of Stockton’s top line and had a second consecutive point-per-game week.

William Strömgren – LW, Rögle BK, J20 Nationell/CHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
J20 up to date15471188611.61
Change from last week2101111-0.56
CHL up to date1123121n/a
Change from last week
Playing on the top six for Rögle’s junior side, Strömgren added a goal this past week. He’s among the junior team’s most consistent players, though he hasn’t broken through onto the pro side yet (aside from one game in the Champions League).

Eetu Tuulola – RW, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date10000000.00
Change from last weekn/a
Tuulola was scratched twice for Stockton.

Cameron Whynot – D, Halifax Mooseheads, QMJHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date81230208.73
Change from last week2000000-2.91
Whynot had a quiet week for the Mooseheads, failing to hit the scoresheet. He’s currently on Halifax’s second pairing.

Dmitry Zavgorodniy – RW, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date10000000.00
Change from last weekn/a
Zavgorodniy was scratched twice for Stockton.

Arsenii Sergeev – G, Tri-City Storm, USHL

GPTOISV%
Up to date4239.935
Change from last week159-.021
Quietly, Sergeev is off to a superb stark. Tandeming with Washington Capitals prospect Chase Clark, he’s actually out-shined his teammate thus far. Sergeev is third in the USHL in save percentage and goals against average.

Adam Werner – G, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPTOISV%
Up to date159.909
Change from last week159+.909
Werner made his Stockton debut this week, getting a win. He’s a pretty solid minor league goalie and the hope is likely that he can form a reliable tandem with Dustin Wolf and push his young teammate a bit.

Dustin Wolf – G, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPTOISV%
Up to date3182.951
Change from last week360-.006
Wolf is off to an excellent start for the Heat as he embarks on his first pro season as a 20-year-old. He’s among the AHL’s statistical leaders among goaltenders. As a rookie.
