The Calgary Flames’ top minor league club, the Stockton Heat, began their season this week. As such, there are a lot of prospects playing hockey now.
Some are doing better than others. Let’s take a look!

This and that:

  • Glenn Gawdin is on the Flames’ roster right now, while Johannes Kinnvall and Connor Zary are on the injury reserve list after suffering training camp injuries. Tyler Parsons is non-roster currently.
  • Matthew Coronato and Harvard finally get going at the end of the month. They beat Dartmouth over the weekend in an informal scrimmage.
  • Adam Werner and Ilya Solovyov are with Stockton but were healthy scratches this week.

Jack Beck – RW, Ottawa 67’s, OHL

Up to date553838342.38
Change from last week2213131-1.76
Beck has continued his previous hot start. He had a three point game, including a game-winning goal. Three of his five goals this season were game-winners for the 67’s.

Jake Boltmann – D, University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish, NCAA/Big10

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date302211018.20
Change from last week2011100-6.56
Boltmann had zero points as a freshman last season, and now he’s registered points in consecutive weeks. It’s a bit of a stretch to claim that he’s turned the corner offensively, but he’s managing to get much more involved offensively for the Irish than he did a year ago.

Lucas Ciona – LW, Seattle Thunderbirds, WHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date411212112.38
Change from last week1000000-4.13
Ciona was suspended for two games due to a charging penalty he took over the weekend. He’s got 24 penalty minutes over the first four games of the season.

Walker Duehr – RW, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date210111119.93
Change from last week2101111+19.93

Lucas Feuk – LW, Västerviks IK, HockeyAllsvenskan / Nybro Vikings IF, HockeyEttan

HockeyEttan up to date4022211n/a
Change from last week3022211
The good news: Feuk registered his first points of the season! The bad news: he did so in HockeyEttan, Sweden’s third level of hockey. Typically, prospects with serious NHL hopes and dreams don’t come out of HockeyEttan.

Ryan Francis – C, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date20000000.00
Change from last week2000000n/a
Francis is Stockton’s third line centre… for now! Byron Froese didn’t play over the weekend and presumably when he’s active, that would bump Francis down to the fourth line. At that point, maybe it’d be better for his development to head back to the QMJHL’s Saint John Sea Dogs (this year’s Memorial Cup hosts). We’ll see how the Flames manage him.

Emil Heineman – LW, Leksands IF, SHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date112022228.89
Change from last week2000000-1.97
Heineman continues to play on Leksands’ fourth line. He went without a point this week.

Cole Huckins – LW, Acadie-Bathurst Titan, QMJHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date735866426.61
Change from last week2325443+12.64

Jordan hasn’t played in a couple weeks. He’s listed on the WHL’s weekly update as being out with an illness.

Rory Kerins – C, Soo Greyhounds, OHL

Justin Kirkland – LW, Stockton Heat, AHL

Change from last week2101010+19.93
Kirkland had a goal in Stockton’s win over Tucson.

Demetrios Koumontzis – LW, Arizona State University Sun Devils, NCAA/Ind.

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date62022229.10
Change from last week2202222+9.10
After weeks without so much as a point, Koumontzis had a two goal game against New Hampshire. He remains on Arizona State’s fourth line.

Yan Kuznetsov – D, Stockton Heat, AHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date20000000.00
Change from last week2000000n/a
Like Ryan Francis, Kuznetsov is in a depth role with Stockton – he’s on the third defensive pairing. It’ll be interesting to see how the Flames manage his development this season.

Connor Mackey – D, Stockton Heat, AHL

Up to date20000000.00
Change from last week2000000n/a

Josh Nodler – C, Michigan State University Spartans, NCAA/Big10

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date413423227.31
Change from last week2011111-13.65
Nodler only had an assist this weekend, but it set up a game-winning goal. He remains one of Michigan State’s top offensive players.

Ilya Nikolaev – C, Tri-City Storm, USHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe

Poirier had a strong offensive week, including a hat trick. (He’s a defenseman, so a hat trick is pretty impressive.)
