Heat Post-Game: Ruzicka hattie extends the winning streak to four

The Stockton Heat returned home for the weekend to host two fellow Pacific Division teams for a pair of games. To start things off, they faced the Colorado Eagles on Saturday night. Dustin Wolf got the night off and Adam Werner got to face his former team for the first time since joining the Flames organization. The Heat continue to be a force to reckoned with this season and extend their winning streak to four with a 6-3 victory over the Eagles.
Winning Werner
Adam Werner got his second start of the year and despite it being a pretty high-scoring game, he stood tall and stopped 30 of 33 shots. After this game’s performance, he sits at a 2.51 GAA and a .906 save percentage.
This game surely brought some emotions for Werner, as he spent the last two seasons primarily with the Colorado Eagles. Last year he played in 11 games for the Eagles, and the year before, he played in 31. He may have had a little bit of a competitive edge in this game, but even so, it was his skill and his new team backing him up that earned him the win.
Three for Ruzicka
Get your hats out, Adam Ruzicka scored a goal in every period on Saturday’s match-up. The line that from popular opinion may soon be referred to as the “JAM Line,” consisting of Jakob Pelletier, Adam Ruzicka, and Matthew Phillips, had another huge night for the Heat. Adam Ruzicka picked up three goals, Jakob Pelletier picked up two assists and Matthew Phillips picked up an assist to combine for six points as a line.
Even with three, Ruzicka saved room with his other teammates to get on the board but ultimately earns the game-winner off his second goal of the night, 4:26 into the second period. Unsurprisingly, Ruzicka was named the first star of the night.
Firsts of the year
Ruzicka’s huge offensive performance was not the only thing to celebrate out of this game. Two Heat skaters scored their first goals of the year in this match-up. Mark Simpson netted the first Heat goal of the night just 57 seconds after the Eagles scored early in the first period. Connor Mackey and Emilio Pettersen picked up assists on his tally.
Martin Pospisil also snapped his scoreless streak and scored the fifth goal of the net. Nick DeSimone and Glenn Gawdin both get the apples on Pospisil’s goal and earn their second assists of the night. The
Looking ahead
There’s one more game to go this weekend as the Heat host the San Jose Barracuda for a Halloween match-up. The Barracuda are looking to close the gap on the Heat as they are just one spot below the Heat in the Pacific Division standings. The streak watch continues and a win tomorrow would stretch it to five games. Game time is 6 p.m. MT.
