After coming within one point of the century mark in the 2018–19 season, Johnny Gaudreau finally reached became a 100-point scorer on Tuesday’s game against the Seattle Kraken when he assisted on @Matthew Tkachuk’s goal in the third period.
Gaudreau picked up the primary helper on Tkachuk’s second goal of the game, which brought the Flames within one goal of the Kraken at the 3:10 mark of the third period. The 28-year-old forward now has 34 goals and 66 assists in 73 games this season.
After picking up the puck at the left face-off circle, Gaudreau sent the puck down to Tkachuk at the side of the net. Tkachuk attempted a royal road pass that bounced off Kraken defenceman @Adam Larsson; the puck returned to Tkachuk, who fired it past @Chris Driedger for the milestone marker.
@Rasmus Andersson also assisted on Tkachuk’s 36th goal of the season.
Gaudreau became the ninth player in Flames franchise history — and the first since Theoren Fleury in 1992–92 — to score 100 points in a season. For a more detailed rundown of the Flames’ previous 100-point scorers, check out this article by FlamesNation managing editor Ryan Pike.
Calgary’s No. 13 also became the fourth NHL player to reach 100 points this year, joining @Connor McDavid, @Leon Draisaitl, and @Jonathan Huberdeau in that club.
Off two goals by Tkachuk and one by @Andrew Mangiapane, the Flames are currently tied 3–3 with the Kraken in the third period.
