Meet the 25 development camp invites

The Calgary Flames are bringing 43 players to development camp next week. 18 of those players are property of the Flames, while another 25 players are in town on camp try-outs.
Here’s a quick and dirty rundown of the 25 camp invites.

D Dylan Anhorn (23)

A Calgary product, Anhorn just finished his junior season with Union College. He had 20 points in 29 games last season.

G Cooper Black (21)

A Michigan kid, Black played with the BCHL’s Nanaimo Clippers and led the league in save percentage. He’s a tall kid, listed at 6’8″ and 194 pounds. He’s headed to Dartmouth College in the fall.

LW Evan Boucher (20)

An Ontario product, Boucher ended up with the Halifax Mooseheads in the QMJHL mid-season and really seemed to click, putting up 40 points (including 25 goals) in 37 games. He’s a potential overager for next season with the Mooseheads, but could also go pro.

RW Braeden Bowman (19)

A right shot winger with the OHL’s Guelph Storm, Bowman is listed at 6’2′ and 205 pounds. He had 37 points in 60 games last season.

D Caeden Carlisle (18)

A left shot defender, Carlisle had 9 points in 55 games last season with the Soo Greyhounds of the OHL.

C Elias Cohen (19)

A right shot centre, Cohen had 61 points in 65 games last season with the OHL’s Guelph Storm. He turns 20 at the end of August and is a possible overager next season (or he could go pro).

D Mikael Diotte (19)

Diotte is listed at 6’3″ and 205 pounds and is a right shot defender with the Drummondville Voltigeurs. He had 14 points in 49 games last season.

D Aiden Dubinsky (18)

A right shot blueliner, Dubinsky is the son of former Flames forward Steve Dubinsky. He had 15 points in 59 games last season with the USHL’s Tri-City Storm (where he was teammates with Flames prospects Arsenii Sergeev and Ilya Nikolaev). He’s headed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth in the fall.

LW Max Graham (18)

Originally from Whitehorse, Graham is 6’3″, 181 pounds and spent last season with the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets. He had 33 points in 64 games.

RW Landen Hookey (18)

A right shot winger listed at 6’4″ and 194 pounds, Hookey played with the Soo Greyhounds last season where he had 5 points in 43 games.

LW Jagger Joshua (23)

The younger brother of Blues prospect Dakota Joshua, Jagger has an awesome name and played his junior season with the Michigan State Spartans last season. He’s got size (6’2″, 194 pounds) but had fairly sparse offence last season (8 points in 36 games).

G Matthew Kieper (18)

After getting cups of coffee with the club here and there, Kieper became the Regina Pats’ starter last season, playing 35 games. Reviews were mixed, as he posted an .876 save percentage.

G Croix Kochendorfer (18)

A big kid from Minnesota, Kochendorfer is listed at 6’4″ and 220 pounds. He played 36 games last season with the NAHL’s Chippewa Steel, winning half of his decisions and posting a .908 save percentage.

D Simon Lavigne (21)

The 6’3″, 187-pound Lavigne just aged out of the QMJHL, having just completed his overage season with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. He had 36 points in 65 games.

G Patrick Leaver (18)

After spending time in junior-A, Leaver transitioned to the OHL this past season with the Oshawa Generals. He played 49 games as a rookie and posted 22 wins and a .908 save percentage.

D Jake Lee (20)

Lee has aged out of junior, having spent his overage season with the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets. He had 46 points in 66 games for the Rockets. He was named to his division’s all-star team for his performance.

C Billy Norcross (19)

A right shot forward, Norcross played this past season with Cushing Academy (a boarding school in New England), where he was captain and had 31 points in 26 games. He’s headed to the BCHL’s Penticton Vees in the fall.

D Rhett Rhinehart (20)

A big kid (6’4″, 223 pounds) from Lloydminster, Rhinehart is a right shot blueliner who’s aged out of junior after spending this past season with the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades. He had 27 points in 53 games. He joined the Heat late in the season on a short-term try-out after the WHL season ended.

D Chris Sedoff (20)

A Finnish import, Sedoff plays with the WHL’s Red Deer Rebels. He had 61 points in 65 games and was named a divisional all-star. He’s eligible to return to the Dub as an overager, or go pro.

D Trevor Thurston (20)

Another tall kid (6’2″, 198 pounds), Thurston split this past season between the WHL’s Lethbridge Hurricanes and Prince Albert Raiders. Combined, he had 10 points in 46 games. He’s eligible to return to the Dub as an overager, or go pro.

LW Gleb Veremyev (19)

A New Jersey product, Veremyev is 6’4″, 201 pounds and played this past season with the USHL’s Lincoln Stars. He had 28 points in 56 games, and is headed to Colorado College in the fall.

C Cooper Walker (19)

A right shot centre, Walker is the son of longtime NHLer Scott Walker. Walker had 35 points in 68 games this past season. He turns 20 later this month, and he’s eligible to return to junior as an overager or go pro.

LW Liam Walsh (22)

Walsh has played three seasons with Merrimack College, where he had 27 points in 34 games in his junior season. He transferred to Northeastern for his upcoming senior year.

D Mason Ward (20)

Ward is 6’5″, 215 pounds and a right shot defender. He had 14 points in 41 games with the Brandon Wheat Kings this past season. He’s eligible to return to the Dub as an overager, or go pro.

RW Carter Wilkie (22)

A Calgary product, Wilkie is a right shot forward who just finished his freshman season at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He had 30 points in 37 games and was named his conference’s top rookie.
Based on individual performances relative to their leagues (and awards won), the players likely worth paying attention to from the try-out crew are Black, Lee, Sedoff and Wilkie.
