Micheal Ferland Injured: Will Not Return Tonight

Bad news for Micheal Ferland whose night was ended after an accidental knee to the head after being tripped up early in the second period. The incident came just under a minute into the period during a sequence in close to the Blue Jackets net.
With the worry of head injuries (Ferland was concussed in his first NHL game), Ferland immediately went off to the Flames dressing room, and hasn’t returned since. He also missed eight games after a sprained knee in the Flames’ 3-2 OT win against Detroit on October 25th.
The alternate angle doesn’t look any better as Blue Jackets’ forward William Karlsson’s knee makes direct contact with Ferland’s face.
Ferland’s recent ascension to the Flames’ top-line has resulted in some moderate success for the gritty winger. With eight points on the season (two goals, six assists), the Flames are still desperately trying to find an option on the top-line RW spot.
To compound issues, Jiri Hudler still doesn’t look completely healthy this evening, and his limited ability in skating makes matters worse. The Flames have three more games on this brief road trip, so if Ferland misses any time, they can look to Josh Jooris to slot in somewhere.
