The Calgary Flames entered play on Sunday needing a win to stay mathematically afloat in the playoff race. Mission accomplished, as they out-played a tired Ottawa Senators club that played the night before in Winnipeg. They beat Ottawa by a 6-1 score.
Here are some selected quotes from the post-game media addresses.

Darryl Sutter

The Flames made a pair of lineup changes from their last outing, slotting in Oliver Kylington for Juuso Valimaki and Glenn Gawdin for Buddy Robinson. Playing his NHL first game since Mar. 17, Kylington played 14:58 with Michael Stone and was minus-1 with two shots on goal. Gawdin played his first NHL game since Feb. 27 and played 11:13 was plus-1 with an assist and went six-for-nine at the face-off  dot. Sutter shared his assessment of the new faces.
I think they gave us some good shifts. Kylly, he’s got a really good skill-set, I think he’s just got to apply it on a shift to shift basis. I think Glenn came in and gave the fourth line a centreman that takes some draws and make some plays. I thought he did a good job of that. I thought that line gave us some good shifts.

Matthew Tkachuk

With the Flames win, their playoff hopes now rely on the Edmonton Oilers. Montreal plays Edmonton on Monday and Wednesday. If Montreal loses in regulation in those games, the Flames will be masters of their own destiny in their four remaining games against Vancouver.
We put ourselves in a terrible position, to be honest. We just have to win and pray. That’s all we can do [Monday]. Watch that game, hope for… I never thought we’d root for Edmonton, but we need them to win these.
