After two decisive wins over the Montreal Canadiens this weekend, the Calgary Flames just couldn’t close out the sweep. The Flames’ playoff hopes took a big hit via a 2-1 loss to Montreal on Monday night.
Here are some selected quotes from the post-game media addresses.

Darryl Sutter

Sutter noted what the difference was in such a close game.
It was really close game between two pretty structured teams. They scored a power play goal, we scored a power play goal. They scored late in the second and hang on to the lead. Pretty even game.

Mark Giordano

Giordano explained what happened on the go-ahead goal for Montreal late in the second period.
We were playing a good game. Again, it’s a 1-1 game and from what I remember a lot of different things happened for them to get into our zone. In our zone it was just a little bit of a bounce to the slot for them, they got a couple whacks and rebound pop play really to one of their guys after Marky made a huge save. So it was a tough sequence for us, but again, when you come into a game like this, it’s got that playoff atmosphere, it’s going to be low-scoring, little things mean the difference.

Sean Monahan

Monahan discussed the team’s belief that they can still go on a run towards the post-season.
We’ve gotta maintain that. Our mindset is to win every game and our next game in Edmonton, it’s a new day and we’ve got to get those two points. The belief’s still here and that’s our main focus here as a group.
