The Calgary Wranglers and Bakersfield Condors played their back-to-back rematch on Wednesday night. The first game was a high-scoring game on Tuesday that resulted in a 6-3 win for the Wranglers. They completed their sweep against the Oilers affiliate with a 4-1 win in game two. This win put them at the very top of the league with a 10-1-1-0 record on the year.

Game at a glance

Dustin Wolf was still not on the bench for this game and likely travelled back with the Flames at the end of their Canadian road trip despite his reassignment to the AHL. As a result, the goaltending situation for the Wranglers was the same as the previous night. Oscar Dansk got the nod for his fourth straight start and Connor Murphy was on the bench for backup. The Condors went another direction in net with Olivier Rodrigue.
This game had a much slower start than Tuesday with most of the first period going by without a lot of notable game activity. Tensions were pretty tame and only two penalties were whistled all period. The Condors took the first penalty of the game and the Wranglers capitalized.
Jonathan Aspirot was left undefended and Emilio Pettersen fed him a perfect pass that he threw in the top corner. This specific shift on the power play included two defenders with Aspirot and Jordan Oesterle on the ice and it paid off. Both defenders contributed to the goal with Oesterle picking up the secondary assist.  This goal came 16:15 into the opening period.
That was the only goal in the opening period and the Wranglers finished the first up 1-0 and ahead 16-7 in shots. In the second period, the Condors had a pair of penalties that came and went then Colton Poolman would be the next player to light the lamp.
At 10:24, Colton Poolman took a shot through traffic that somehow was not deflected. Lucas Ciona was positioned right in front of the net but it would be Poolman who earned that goal. Ben Jones and Lucas Ciona assisted.
58 seconds later, the Condors got a goal back off the stick of Cam Dineen. Dineen was one of Bakersfield’s best players on Tuesday and beat Dansk the previous night. He took a settled the puck in the zone after it deflected off the boards and scored short side.
That short burst of scoring would be the last of the goals in the second and by the end of the period, the Wranglers had a one-goal 2-1 lead. Calgary still outshot their opponents in the middle frame 11-7.
In the third, the Wranglers got their control of the game back early starting with a goal from Ilya Solovyov 3:50 in. He took a shot that deflected off the skate of a Condors player and put the Wranglers up 3-1. Emilio Pettersen and Brady Lyle assisted.
Just over six minutes later, the Wranglers earned another marker with a tic-tac-toe tap-in from Emilio Pettersen. His linemates, Ilya Nikolaev and Clark Bishop, assisted on the fourth goal of the night.
The Condors didn’t get any other goals to try and crawl their way back into this game and decided not to pull their goalie in the last few minutes of the game as Adam Klapka was called for slashing in the last four and a half minutes, then the Condors were called on a penalty of their own at 16:32.
Bakersfield was unable to hold the zone long enough to try for an extra attacker and the game finished with a final score of 4-1. The Wranglers completed the series sweep in their first meeting of the season and earned their fourth straight win.
Calgary players swept the three stars of the night once again with Colton Poolman picking up the third star, Oscar Dansk picking up the second star and Emilio Pettersen picking up the first star for his three point night. Calgary doubled up Bakersfield in shots 41-20.
