Ahead of the Calgary Flames’ meeting with the Montreal Canadiens on Monday afternoon, some bad injury news. Multiple reports are indicating that defender Noah Hanifin is out for the remainder of the season after suffering an injury in Saturday’s win over Montreal.
(Update: the club has confirmed.)
Hanifin, 24, left Saturday’s game in the first period after a collision with Corey Perry that saw the defender fall awkwardly. Sportsnet’s Ryan Leslie reported that it’s a shoulder injury.
Hanifin’s departure creates a big hole for the Flames, and ends what was to this point a superb season for the American blueliner. Playing primarily with Chris Tanev, Hanifin has 15 points over 47 games and emerged as perhaps the team’s best all-around blueliner. He’s under contract through 2023-24.
