The 2o22-23 National Hockey League season is now completed, and so the order of selection for the 2023 NHL Draft has been locked in. So now, barring the inevitable bunch of trades they’ll make, we know the specific draft picks controlled by the Calgary Flames.

Picks the Flames own

The Flames own five draft selections, all of which are their original picks. (So far, they haven’t acquired any additional picks in trades.)
1st round, 16th overall
2022’s 16th pick: C Noah Ostlund (Djurgardens IF, SHL)
FC Hockey’s 16th-ranked player: D Mikhail Gulyayev (Avangard Omsk, KHL)
2nd round, 48th overall
2022’s 48th pick: C Matyas Sapovaliv (Saginaw, OHL)
FC Hockey’s 48th-ranked player: D Aram Minnetian (U.S. National Development Program, USHL)
4th round, 112th overall
2022’s 112th pick: C Daimon Gardner (Warroad High, USHS)
FC Hockey’s 112th-ranked player: D Ty Higgins (Acadie-Bathurst, QMJHL)
6th round, 176th overall
2022’s 176th overall: D Jackson Dorrington (Des Moines, USHL)
FC Hockey’s 176th-ranked player: C Justin Gill (Sherbrooke, QMJHL)
7th round, 208th overall
2022’s 208th overall: D Kirill Kudryavstev (Sault Ste. Marie, OHL)
FC Hockey’s 208th-ranked player: C Chris Delaney (Chicago, USHL)

Picks the Flames traded

The Flames sent away a pair of 2023 picks in trades in the run-up to 2022’s trade deadline as they attempted to load up for the playoffs.
3rd round, 80th overall
The Flames traded this pick to Seattle in the trade that made Calle Jarnkrok (briefly) a Flame. Seattle subsequently traded the pick to Columbus for Oliver Bjorkstrand, and Columbus sent it to New Jersey for Damon Severson.
5th round, 144th overall
The Flames traded this pick to Montreal in the trade that made Tyler Toffoli a Flame.
