The Calgary Flames’ draft picks for the 2022 NHL Draft are now set

With the Calgary Flames no longer participating in the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs, the position of their draft selections in the upcoming NHL Draft have been set.
The Flames have three picks, with their first pick coming close to the end of the second round.

Picks the Flames own

2nd round – 59th overall
Our friends at Future Considerations have Finnish blueliner Otto Salin as their 59th-ranked player.
Craig Button at TSN has Guelph defender Michael Buchinger as his 59th-ranked player.
Smaht Scouting has London blueliner Isaiah George as their 59th-ranked player.
5th round – 155th overall
7th round – 219th overall

Picks that were traded

1st round – 26th overall (traded to Montreal)
This pick went to Montreal in the Tyler Toffoli trade. Toffoli is under contract for two more seasons at a $4.25 million cap hit.
2nd round – 61st overall (acquired from Florida, traded to Seattle)
The Flames acquired this pick from Florida in the Sam Bennett trade at last year’s trade deadline, then traded it to Seattle as part of the package to get Calle Jarnkrok at this year’s trade deadline.
3rd round – 90th overall (acquired from Toronto, traded to Chicago)
The Flames acquired this pick from Toronto in the David Rittich trade at last year’s trade deadline, then traded it to Chicago to get then-restricted free agent Nikita Zadorov last summer.
3rd round – 91st overall (traded to Boston)
The Flames traded this pick to Boston for Daniel Vladar last summer.
4th round – 123rd overall (traded to Seattle)
The Flames traded this pick to Seattle for Tyler Pitlick the day after last summer’s expansion draft.
6th round – 187th overall (traded to Florida, later traded again to Buffalo)
The Flames traded this pick to Florida as part of the Sam Bennett trade at last year’s trade deadline, and Florida subsequently traded it at this year’s trade deadline to land Robert Hagg.
The 2022 NHL Draft goes July 7 and 8 in scenic Montreal, Quebec.
