The National Hockey League’s two American television broadcasters announced their national schedules on Wednesday, with the Calgary Flames being featured on four national games.
The figure puts the Flames firmly third among Canadian teams being featured on American television.
The four Flames national games in the United States are as follows:
  • Dec. 14: The Flames host Vancouver (TNT)
  • Jan. 23: The Flames host Johnny Gaudreau and the Columbus Blue Jackets (ESPN+/Hulu)
  • Feb. 23: The Flames visit Vegas (ESPN)
  • Apr. 12: The Flames host San Jose (TNT)
The four announced national games are more than Vancouver (2), Winnipeg (1), Ottawa (1) or Montreal (0) will be featured in. But the two teams that will be seen more often in the United States are the two that you would expect: Edmonton (14) and Toronto (12).
Edmonton, of course, features Connor McDavid, the reigning NHL leading scorer. Toronto, of course, features Auston Matthews, the reigning NHL most valuable player. But the Flames remain a team worthy of attention, so it’s fairly noteworthy that Turner Sports and ESPN have already carved out four Flames dates before the season has already begun. (Most of the Flames’ national American games last season were added mid-season.
