Calgary Flames winger @Blake Coleman returned Monday from his season-opening one-game suspension and quickly made amends for his previous absence.
The 29-year-old Plano, TX product scored his first goal with the Flames just 7:43 into the team’s home opener against the Anaheim Ducks.
After Ducks defenceman @Hampus Lindholm whiffed on a scoring chance at one end of the ice, Flames forward @Johnny Gaudreau sprung Coleman for a partial breakaway at the other end. Coleman successfully fended off a backchecking @Ryan Getzlaf and beat Ducks goaltender @John Gibson under his left arm with a quick wrister.
Coleman’s first Flames goal was also the first of Monday’s game for either team. Here’s the video, as posted to YouTube by Sportsnet:

The Flames went without Coleman in their season-opening 5-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers after the NHL issued him a two-game suspension for a hit he threw against Winnipeg Jets forward @Jansen Harkins during the pre-season. Coleman also missed Calgary’s final exhibition contest while serving his ban.
@Elias Lindholm also scored for the Flames in their 3-2 overtime loss to the Ducks on Monday. @Cam Fowler, @Rickard Rakell, and @Jamie Drysdale scored for Anaheim.
Coleman and the Flames will return to action in Detroit on Oct. 21 when they take on @Moritz Seider and the Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena.
