They’re back!
The Calgary Flames have announced their roster for this week’s prospect training camp, the bulk of which will be spent participating in the Young Stars Classic tournament in Penticton, British Columbia.
Here’s our rundown of the 25 players that the Flames will be sending to the Okanagan for the weekend.

Murphy and Radomsky return from last year’s Penticton roster, and they’re joined by newcomer Waltteri Ignatjew, who was the top goalie in Sweden’s second tier last season and Finland’s second tier the season before that. Radomsky didn’t get any AHL time last season, but keep an eye on Murphy, who really seemed to take a step when Dustin Wolf was in the NHL for awhile.

Not Here: Everyone’s here.
If you’re wondering what Craig Conroy has been doing since becoming general manager, may we present Exhibit A: the blueline. None of these guys were Flames when Conroy was hired. He’s acquired three via trade and drafted five of them. Our recent prospect ranking was full of new faces from this blueline group. We’re fascinated to see how they all fit in together at this tournament… and going forward. Morin is the only returning defender from last year’s Penticton group.

Here’s another place where we’re seeing new faces under Conroy’s guidance. Returning from the 2023 Young Stars Classic are Bell, Ciona, Honzek, Lipinski and Strömgren. The other nine forwards are newcomers, a mixture of draft choices, free agent signings, AHL signings and try-out players. Morton was good in the AHL in a small sample size while Strömgren was superb for the back half of the season, so we’ll see if those gentlemen can lead the way or if someone else will step up.

The schedule
