Dillon Dube has been earmarked as one of Calgary’s more exciting prospects. Although his stint in the NHL this year didn’t blow the doors down, his play with the Stockton Heat suggests that he might be doing that as soon as next season.

For his valiant efforts this past week – scoring four points and adding three assists in just three games – he has been named the AHL’s player of the week.

Although he’s had a strong season in the AHL since being reassigned, Dube has picked up the pace recently. He scored a goal in all three games this past week, including two shorthanded goals. His four-point night in Sunday’s early afternoon shootout loss against the San Jose Barracuda likely sealed the deal, where Dube scored the game’s opening two goals and picked up the primary assist on the other two Stockton goals.

Dube has been a force to be reckoned with since being reassigned to the Heat, having picked up 37 points in 31 games. He is currently leading all U21 players in points per game and sits fifth among all forwards by the same metric. If he finishes the year in Stockton, he could hit 50 points with 11 games left in the season.
