Flames pick Stepan Falkovsky at #186

He’s the jumping guy
With their final pick in the draft (as of this writing), the Flames have selected Stepan Falkovsky, a left handed defenceman, from the Ottawa 67’s at #186.
Falkovsky is a coke machine with a scoring touch, the 6’7″, 225 behemoth put up 32 points in 58 games. The Belorussian product is an overager (old at that- 1996 birthday), but this is his first season in North America after a few seasons in the Belorussian league. He appeared for Belarus at the World Juniors this year, putting up two points in six games.
Scouts say he has the potential to be a strong two way defenceman at the NHL level. He is a smooth skater despite his size and possess a powerful shot, but has to work on his decision making to bring together his game in all three zones.
We have some analysis and wrap-up coming by in the next few hours, so make sure you stick around for a little bit.
