The biggest news for Calgary Flames prospects is some sad news, as Russian sensation Dmitry Zavgorodniy will be out for eight-to-12 weeks due to an injury. It’s terrible news for the organization’s number seven prospect.

In case you missed it:

Feuk has changed teams since the international break last week. He’s moved from Sodertalje, where he was in the last year of his contract, to AIK. The rationale on the AIK site was that he’s familiar with a lot of the coaches and players, which in theory should open up a path to full-time work in the pros.
He joins Dallas Stars pick Samuel Sjolund, selected five picks ahead of Feuk, with AIK’s U20 squad. Feuk’s new contract runs through 2021-22 season. But there’s a transfer agreement with Sweden in place, so if he’s ready to come over it won’t be an obstacle.

Another week, another bushel of points for the Flames’ Russian sniper. Zavgorodniy had two three point games and then a quieter night to close out the weekend. Why was his last game quieter? Well, he suffered a pretty gnarly injury:
An eight-to-12 week recovery time would see Zavgorodniy return sometime between the middle of January and the middle of February. He’ll be back in time for the QMJHL’s playoffs, but he’s definitely out for the World Juniors (and he was a lock for that tournament).
