Flames select Rory Kerins at 174th overall

The Calgary Flames have made their latest pick at the 2020 NHL Draft. In the sixth round, 174th overall, they have selected forward Rory Kerins from the OHL’s Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds.
Originally from Bolton, Ontario, Kerins is a 5’10”, 172 pounds, left shot center from the OHL. He made the Greyhounds two seasons ago as a 16-year-old and has shown consistent improvement in his two seasons. He had 30 goals and 59 points in 64 games in 2019-20.
Dobber Prospects describes him thusly:
A crafty goal scorer who thrives in the home plate area of the offensive zone. He gets to the high-danger areas with regularity and generates offense from the slot.
According to FlamesNation’s Mike Wilson, Kerins had the fourth-most even strength goals of any draft-eligible OHLer behind only Marco Rossi, Cole Perfetti and Jack Quinn.
Kerins was ranked 107th by Future Considerations and 109th by McKeen’s. At 174th overall, given his offensive talents, he seems like a rock-solid value proposition.
