Calgary Flames centre @Sean Monahan turned back the clock for a beautiful goal in the third period of Tuesday’s game against the Florida Panthers.
With the Flames already leading 5–1, forwards @Johnny Gaudreau, @Matthew Tkachuk, and Monahan entered the Panthers’ zone on a three-on-two rush.
After playing catch with Tkachuk, Gaudreau feathered a pass over to a trailing Monahan, who received the puck cleanly and made a confident move before lifting the puck over an outstretched @Spencer Knight.
Monahan previously scored on the power play to give the Flames a 3–1 lead late in the second period, deflecting a long-range shot by Gaudreau past Knight for his fifth goal of the season. With his second tally of the game, Monahan now has six goals and 18 points in 35 games this year.
@Rasmus Andersson, @Blake Coleman, and Tkachuk have also scored for Calgary, with Gaudreau racking up four assists. The Flames remain ahead 5–1 in the dying minutes of the third period.
