Post-Sim Wrap-Up: Flames go bust in Game 7

The Calgary Flames fended off elimination in Vegas in Game 6. They were unable to muster the same offensive outburst in Game 7, getting blanked 3-0 and being eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs by the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Rundown
The entire game was tight-checking, with good scoring chances at a premium. Vegas got on the board first in the opening frame. The Golden Knights hemmed the Flames in their own zone and wore them down on the cycle, ending with a William Karlsson one-timer to give them a 1-0 edge.
Midway through the second Vegas got some much-needed insurance. Off a face-off win in the Flames zone, William Carrier buried a feed past David Rittich to make it 2-0 Vegas. The Flames had a power play at the end of the second period, but couldn’t get on the board.
Vegas went up 3-0 early in the third period, as Alec Martinez’s point shot eluded Rittich through traffic. And that was that. Vegas clogged up the middle of the ice and ran down the clock.
Shots were 21-19 Flames. Vegas wins the series 4-3.
The Flames saw some decent offensive output despite the loss, getting five points apiece from Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau, Matthew Tkachuk and Andrew Mangiapane.
