The Calgary Flames won their second game in a row, this time in dramatic fashion by way of a 4-3 shootout triumph over the Winnipeg Jets.
Here are some selected quotes from the post-game media addresses.

Chris Tanev

Sometimes milestone goals aren’t picturesque. Jarome Iginla’s 500th goal went in off a Minnesota Wild player. Mark Jankowski’s first NHL goal was a rebound that went in off his pants. And Chris Tanev’s first goal as a Calgary Flame was a 122-foot bouncer from inside his own blueline that found a way through Connor Hellebuyck. Tanev explained the scoring sequence from his perspective.
We were trying to hit Dubes on a little breakaway play off the initial draw. And it went through a few legs and sticks, took a fortunate bounce right before it got to Hellebuyck.

From time to time, the Flames get down a goal or two in a game. And from time to time, they make things worse by opening up their two-way play a bit too much to try to get back in the game all at once. But on Monday in Winnipeg, the Flames just… largely kept doing what they were doing and got themselves back into the game by playing effective 200-foot hockey.
You know, I think our guys are becoming a little more comfortable playing that way. We understand that – especially against the teams in this division, they’re all explosive hockey teams, especially, a lot of teams in transition when you look around the division, so… I think our guys are getting really comfortable just being satisfied with continuing to move the puck forward and if you’ve got nothing, get it in and go to work.
It’s an old formula, but it’s been true over the test of time and I think our guys are getting more and more comfortable with that and as a result, we’re able to avoid some of the stretches we got into when we were trading chances in the past, or teams were able to come back on us fairly hard because of the amount of times we’re turning the puck over. We’re getting more comfortable with it. It’s still a work in progress, but we like the way it’s headed.
