The Calgary Wranglers continue a busy stretch of hockey kicking off a four game week with a two game series against the Henderson Silver Knights. Every point is a battle for Calgary at this point in the season, so with eight available points on the line against Pacific Division opponents, this week is going to be critical for the Flames’ affiliate.

Notes and expectations
Despite being in the same division, Henderson and Calgary haven’t seen a lot of each other this season. Last season, they played eight times and this season, they’ve only seen each other twice. Their last meeting was back near the start of the season on Nov. 15 and 16. The Wranglers took game one by a 6-4 decision, then the Silver Knights came back the next day and won 5-2.
The Silver Knights were in that battle for the last playoff spot a couple of weeks ago and have managed to pull ahead to the sixth spot in the division with 66 points. The Wranglers still sit in eighth place with 54 points. They have quite a bit of ground to make up on the Tucson Roadrunners, who are the next team up with 63 points. Already, a couple of the top teams have secured playoff spots and Calgary only has 13 games remaining in the regular season.
A couple of players who stood out in the Manitoba Moose series over the weekend were Justin Kirkland and Aydar Suniev. Both had two goal games in Calgary’s 7-2 win on Friday and Kirkland netted another in their 4-2 loss on Sunday. Kirkland is up to four goals in his last three games and Suniev had a season high three points in Friday’s game. They’ll both be good players to watch going into this week.
This series starts on Tuesday and wraps up on Thursday night. Both games have a 7:00 p.m. MT puck drop. You can celebrate your St. Patrick’s Day at the ‘Dome with tickets still available or stream the games for a fee on Flo Hockey.
