FlamesNation contributor, Sportsnet 960 The Fan radio host, and all-around great guy Pat Steinberg returned to the airwaves on Monday with an encouraging message about the future of newly-acquired Calgary Flames defenceman @MacKenzie Weegar.

In his first episode hosting &#8220;Flames Talk&#8221; since returning from vacationing in scenic France, Steinberg expressed confidence about Weegar re-signing with the Flames in conversation with co-host Logan Gordon.

Weegar, 28, scored eight goals and 44 points while averaging 23:22 in 80 games with the Florida Panthers during the 2021–22 regular season.
The 6&#8242;, 200-pound right-handed defenceman is signed through the end of the 2022–23 campaign at a $3.25 million cap hit. He&#8217;ll be eligible to hit unrestricted free agency next July.
The Flames currently have five NHL defenders signed for the 2023–24 season, but they all make less than $5 million per season. @Noah Hanifin ($4.95 million) leads the way, followed by @Rasmus Andersson ($4.55 million), @Chris Tanev ($4.5 million), @Nikita Zadorov ($3.75 million), and @Oliver Kylington ($2.5 million).
