The Calgary Flames have won just once since the All-Star Break. But despite all that, they’ve managed to stay near the top of the Western Conference. The Flames are sliding, but the playoff chase remains incredibly tight.

The Flames will clinch a playoff berth when the ninth place team (currently Vancouver) cannot pass them mathematically. They’re 16 points up on them right now.
The Athletic’s projections right now have the playoff cutline in the Western Conference at around 87 points, so six or seven Flames wins should be about enough to clinch.
Chasing a divisional title
Team | Pts | W | ROW | Pct. | Chances |
FLAMES | 75 | 34 | 34 | .658 | 56.1% |
Sharks | 75 | 34 | 34 | .647 | 43.5% |
Golden Knights | 66 | 31 | 29 | .559 | 0.2% |
Canucks | 57 | 25 | 23 | .491 | 0.0% |
It’s super tight at the top of the Pacific Division, though both the Flames and Sharks have a nine-point cushion on Vegas. The Flames are ahead of San Jose based on the points percentage tiebreaker – they have a game in hand on the Sharks.
Chasing top spot in the West
Team | Pts | W | ROW | Pct. | Chances |
FLAMES | 75 | 34 | 34 | .658 | 47.8% |
Jets | 75 | 34 | 34 | .647 | 36.4% |
Sharks | 75 | 34 | 34 | .647 | 13.4% |
Predators | 73 | 34 | 33 | .608 | 2.2% |
It’s a three-way tie at the top of the West! The Flames have the points percentage tiebreaker on both Winnipeg and San Jose, while the Jets have three out of a possible four points head-to-head with the Sharks.
Chasing a Presidents’ Trophy
The Flames are 15 points back of Tampa Bay, so we’re retiring this for awhile.
