Calgary Flames forward Yegor Sharangovich scored one of the nicest goals of the 2024-25 season midway through Friday’s game against the Minnesota Wild to give his team a 2-0 lead.
Sharangovich, 26, led the charge through the neutral zone before kicking off a textbook give-and-go with linemate Martin Pospisil, who set him up for a back-doop tap-in at the foot of Filip Gustavsson’s crease.
But Pospisil’s return pass to Sharangovich wasn’t along the ice. It was two feet in the air — and Sharangovich deftly deflected it into the yawning cage for his 15th goal of the season.

With the goal, Sharangovich extended his own personal point streak against the Wild to five games, with three goals and seven points over that span. He now has 29 points (15 goals, 14 assists) in 70 games with the Flames this season.
Sharangovich has struggled to find his form at various times in his second year with the Flames, most notably being made a healthy scratch against the Dallas Stars on March 27. But since then, he has three goals, two assists, and a shootout-winning goal in his last eight games.
The Flames originally acquired Sharangovich from the New Jersey Devils in the 2023 offseason, sending Tyler Toffoli to the Garden State in exchange for the Belarusian winger and a third-round pick in that year’s draft (used to select Aydar Suniev). In his first season with the Flames, Sharangovich collected 31 goals and 59 points in 82 games.
On July 1, 2024, Sharangovich signed a five-year extension with the Flames worth $5.75 million per season. However, he missed the start of the 2024-25 season after suffering a lower-body injury in the preseason finale and struggled to get back up to speed once he returned, notably scoring just once in the month of December.
Even with just 15 goals this season, Sharangovich is now tied with Blake Coleman for fourth on the Flames in goal-scoring, behind only Nazem Kadri (32), Jonathan Huberdeau (28), and Matt Coronato (23). He is now one goal shy of 100 for his NHL career.
The Flames led the Wild by a 3-0 score after the second period of Friday’s pivotal game at the Scotiabank Saddledome, with Sharangovich, Kadri, and Mikael Backlund finding the back of the net for the Flames in the first 40 minutes.
