The Calgary Wranglers play three games against three different opponents this week. It starts with a road meeting against the Edmonton Oilers affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors. The Wranglers are perfect against the Condors so far this season, picking up wins in their last two games on Nov. 1 and 2. They’ll look to keep that perfect record alive in a one game stop on Tuesday.

Notes and expectations

This week brought some movement between the Wranglers and Flames. Sam Honzek’s injury and week to week status called for some reinforcements. It also opened up a chance for Calgary to try something different at center. Rory Kerins got sent back to the Wranglers after a two game appearance and Dryden Hunt and Sam Morton were called up.  All transactions took place on Monday. Dryden Hunt was called up once before this Fall but did not play in any games so far this season. This is Morton’s first look up at the Flames since his season finale debut in April.
The Wranglers still have some guys to pick from on the forwards side with Parker Bell and Andrew Basha as extras last game. However, that’s all they have at this point. There will likely be some game day transactions coming up from Rapid City. Carter Wilkie and Brett Davis are familiar forwards that played games with the Wranglers last season, but there may be an appetite to bring in some new guys as well.
The Wranglers went 3-1 last week and someone who stood out was Matvei Gridin. Gridin was kept off the scoresheet entirely for three games and came back last week with a point per game. He scored in both games against Henderson, including the shutout breaker in the last five minutes of Sunday’s game. He’s generated some good chemistry with Justin Kirkland and Dryden Hunt on the top line so it’ll be interesting to see how he does when the combinations get a little switched up for this game.
This game has a little later start time than usual, being on the West Coast, going at 7:30 p.m. MT. Streaming options are available for a fee on Flo Hockey and FlamesNation contributors, Ryan Pike and I will have updates on X (formerly Twitter).
