Calgary Flames prospect Connor Zary is now listed as week-to-week with a fractured left ankle, the club announced Friday morning.
Zary suffered the injury after blocking a Filip Berglund shot with his left leg in Calgary’s 4-1 exhibition win over the Edmonton Oilers on Sep. 20.
Initially thought to be day-to-day with his ankle injury, Zary could now stand to miss a significant chunk, if not all, of the Flames’ 2021 training camp.
The 2020 first-round pick is eligible to play in the American Hockey League on a full-time basis in 2021–22. He played his first nine professional games with the Stockton Heat in 2020–21, scoring three goals and seven points.
