The Calgary Flames hit the practice ice this afternoon in advance of Friday night’s visit from the Los Angeles Kings. Following the on-ice session, Flames head coach Bill Peters chatted about a few items of note.
David Rittich allowed four goals against on Wednesday against Dallas – the most he’s given up this season – and Smith played well in Calgary’s win over Arizona on Sunday afternoon. Given how the Flames play fairly regularly over the next while, alternating goaltenders for the time being makes a lot of sense. At least unless one goaltender really looks great, which should be a hint to play that individual until they look shoddy.
With no Dillon Dube and no Michael Frolik for Friday’s game, it sounds like the Flames will either use Ryan Lomberg or call somebody up from Stockton.
Coach Peters says the team will be recalling a forward this afternoon. Frolik not ready to return tomorrow vs. LA.
Says Lomberg is an option on the fourth line tomorrow but team hasn’t made final lineup decisions. #Flames

With just 12 healthy forwards on the active roster right now, it would make a lot of sense for the Flames to bring up an extra body from Stockton regardless of whether Lomberg will play or not.
