The Calgary Flames have signed 6’4″ forward Walker Duehr to a two-year entry-level contract. The deal was announced by the club on Sunday afternoon.
The 23-year-old right-shot right wing spent the last four years playing collegiate hockey for the Minnesota State Mavericks of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. He scored 10 goals and added seven assists in 28 games this season.
An undrafted player, Duehr committed to Minnesota State after playing three seasons in the USHL with the Sioux City Musketeers, Tri-City Storm, Chicago Steel, and Bloomington Thunder. He played alongside Flames draft pick Mitchell Mattson in Bloomington.
He joined the Mavericks in 2017-18 as part of the same freshman class as future Flames signee Connor Mackey. Duehr amassed 25 goals and 51 points in 102 NCAA games before becoming an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the 2020-21 season.
Duehr, who hails from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, will likely report to the Stockton Heat after he’s completed a quarantine process.
A note on Walker Duehr's two-year entry-level deal with #Flames. The contract starts next season, but he will join the AHL's Stockton Heat on an ATO.
