Good news, everybody!
After having the team facilities closed “until further notice,” the Calgary Flames have received the all-clear to reopen team facilities to players and staff who have remained negative for COVID-19.
The Flames have reopened their facility today for players & staff that have remained negative with daily testing. Over the next week, players & staff will be returning to the facility as allowed after completing their required isolation period as per AHS recommendations.

The Flames’ training facilities at the Scotiabank Saddledome have been closed since last Monday due to an ongoing outbreak within the hockey club.
At their peak, the Flames had positive cases (and individuals joining the COVID-19 protocol) for five consecutive days, but they’ve seen nothing but negative tests over the past three days. At present, 19 players, three coaches and 10 staff members are part of the league’s protocol, but if all goes well asymptomatic persons can begin leaving the protocol by mid-week.
The Flames are scheduled to play on Dec. 27 against the Edmonton Oilers, but that’s obviously a tentative date right now based on the Oilers’ COVID issues and the fact that teams aren’t allowed to practice during the NHL’s holiday break (Dec. 24-26) so the Flames would be going into a game without having had a formal practice in 16 days.
