Another afternoon game for the Calgary Flames today as they take on the Detroit Red Wings. Both teams come into today losers of two straight. Historically, the Red Wings have controlled play against the Flames, winners of three straight head-to-head match-ups.
Tonight’s expected goalie match-up: the Red Wings’ James Reimer (4-6-2) vs. the Flames’ Jacob Markstrom (17-14-2).

Calgary Flames team total over 3.5 (-105)

Your $10.00 bet would return $19.52.
Calgary hasn’t seen a dip in their offensive production since trading their number one centreman, Elias Lindholm. In the five games without Lindholm, the Flames are averaging 3.4 goals per game. The Red Wings are starting James Reimer today. He has allowed 5+ goals against in five of his last six match-ups.
Coming off an embarrassing loss to the San Jose Sharks, the Flames should have an extra fire under them to get back on track this afternoon.

James Reimer under 28.5 saves (-125)

Your $10.00 bet would return $18.00
This correlates with the play above as well. James Reimer is making his first start since January 14th against the Toronto Maple Leafs. There’s got to be some rust on the 35-year-old’s tires after such a lengthy break.
Before the absence, Reimer had started 11 games, only covering this line in five of these games, averaging 28.1 saves per game. In the five games that the Flames have played since the All-Star break, opposing netminders are averaging 25.8 saves per game. The Red Wings have played three games since the break, with their goaltenders struggling to find a save, averaging 22.3 saves per game.
They’re turning to Reimer to get a save, and with his 4.83 goals against average over his last six starts, it’s a tall task to see him clear this number.

Dylan Larkin over 2.5 shots on goal (-134)

Your $10.00 bet would return $17.50.
In Larkin’s most recent outing against the Vancouver Canucks, he finished with three shots on 12 attempts. On the road this season, Larkin has covered this line in 76% of his games, averaging 3.5 shots on 7.3 attempts. Over his last 10 games, Larkin averages 6.2 shot attempts per game — when Larkin sees 6+ shot attempts, he is clearing at a 90% clip.

Last Game Recap

Calgary Flames Moneyline & Andrei Kuzmenko Point – LOSS – (-$10.00)
Nazem Kadri Over 3.5 Shots on Goal – LOSS – (-$10.00)
This was rough. Kuzmenko scored in the third period, but it was too late as the Flames lost 6-3 against one of the league’s bottom teams. Kadri missed by one shot as he finished the game with three shots on seven shot attempts.
All-Time Record: 32-37 (-$48.62)
