The Calgary Flames have brought back their popular “Blasty” jersey as their alternate look for the 2022–23 season.
The Blasty uniform will be worn 12 times this year. The jerseys are now available for purchase online and in all CGY Team Store locations.
The Flames originally introduced the Blasty logo as an alternate crest way back in 1998. The Blasty uniform served as the Flames’ full-time dark look from 2000 to 2003 before serving as an alternate again in 2003–04 and 2005–06.
When the NHL and Adidas came out with the first “Reverse Retro” program in the 2020–21 season, the Blasty uniform was the natural choice for Calgary. The Flames wore a slightly modified version of the original Blasty jersey six times in 2020–21, with the major change being the red underneath the chevron waist stripes being replaced with black.
The new Blasty alternate is ever-so-slightly different than the Reverse Retro version. All the RR badging has been removed, and the cuffs now feature embossed black-on-black flame designs going up to the arm stripes.
The Flames will wear Blasty for the first time this season when Matthew Tkachuk and the Florida Panthers come to visit the Scotiabank Saddledome on November 29. They’ll also wear it against Sean Monahan’s Montreal Canadiens on December 1, Johnny Gaudreau’s Columbus Blue Jackets on January 23, and Mark Giordano’s Toronto Maple Leafs on March 2.
Here’s the full list of Blasty dates for the 2022–23 season:
  • November 29 vs. Florida
  • December 1 vs. Montreal
  • December 16 vs. St. Louis
  • January 18 vs. Colorado
  • January 21 vs. Tampa Bay
  • January 23 vs. Columbus
  • January 26 vs. Chicago
  • February 28 vs. Boston
  • March 2 vs. Toronto
  • March 4 vs. Minnesota
  • March 23 vs. Vegas
  • March 25 vs. San Jose
The Flames will also wear their to-be-announced “Reverse Retro 2022” uniform four times at home this season. They’ll wear their classic red jerseys 25 times at the Scotiabank Saddledome and their regular whites for all 41 road dates.
