Calgary Flames select Jacob Battaglia at 62nd overall in 2024 NHL Draft

3 days agoThe Calgary Flames have made their fourth pick of the 2024 NHL Draft. At 62nd overall, the Flames have selected forward Jacob Battaglia from the Ontario Hockey League’s Kingston Frontenacs.
A product of Mississauga, Ontario, Battaglia is a left shot winger listed at 6’0″ and 205 pounds. After a rookie OHL campaign in 2022-23 that saw him post 27 points, he really took a big step forward offensively, posting 30 goals and 65 points in 67 games. According to the folks at the Kingston Whig-Standard, Battaglia is no relation to former NHLer Bates Battaglia.
Here’s what Daily Faceoff’s Steven Ellis had to say about Battaglia in his final draft rankings – Battaglia was ranked 64th:
After a decent rookie season, Battaglia saw his offense bounce up to 31 goals and 65 points in 67 games with Kingston this year. A producer at all levels, he’s not huge at six-foot but he’s strong and creative. If he can carry his offense up to higher level, he could be a decent middle-six scoring threat.
Battaglia was the 42nd-ranked North American skater on the NHL’s Central Scouting Service’s final rankings. Over at Elite Prospects, they had Battaglia ranked 65th overall in their draft guide.
When you add Battaglia to the previous three selections made by the Flames – Zayne Parekh, Matvei Gridin and Andrew Basha – the Flames have selected four 30 goal scores spanning three different leagues.
