The recap is here, if you missed it. Here are selected highlights and post-game comments from Monday night.
Head coach Darryl Sutter
On electing to dress 11 forwards and seven blueliners: “I thought our defence looked tired the last couple games. I think it goes back to Game 1 when Raz only played eight minutes. Some guys played more than they normally do, and I think it trickled into our game the last couple.”
On Johnny Gaudreau’s evening: “He was good on breakaways. He’s got lots of different moves. This one worked.”
On how this game unfolded: “Since Game 1 I feel like I’ve been playing well, playing hard against this team. Obviously the results weren’t there last game. Had a breakaway, two minutes left, wanted that one back. And then tonight a little different story, found the net. That’s the way hockey is, can’t score ’em all. But it was nice to find the back of the net and help this team win a game here tonight.”
On how the game unfolded: “I thought we started well. I thought our first period was good. We could’ve gone out with the lead after the first one, but we just stuck with it. We got a big power play goal there and then obviously got the second one and the third one. So, overall it was a good game, and it all started with a good start in the first.”
