Stockton Heat goaltender @Dustin Wolf has been named to the American Hockey League’s end-of-season First All-Star Team.
Wolf, 21, is the first rookie goalie to be named to the First All-Star Team since current Ottawa Senators goaltender @Matt Murray received the honour as a member of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2014–15.
In 46 games with the Heat this season, Wolf posted a 33–8–4 record and a .924 save percentage. The Calgary Flames originally selected Wolf in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Draft.
Wolf leads the entire AHL with 33 wins in 2021–22, while his .924 save percentage ranks third behind @Troy Grosenick (.933) and @Joey Daccord (.925).
Without Wolf in net this season, the Heat have posted a 12–7–3 record to go along with an .882 save percentage. Wolf became the first player in Stockton Heat history to be named to an end-of-season AHL All-Star Team.
Wolf was one of only two rookies (@Jordan Spence being the other) to be named to either AHL All-Star Team. The winner of the Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award, given annually to the league’s most outstanding first-year player, will be announced on Friday.
2021–22 AHL First All-Star Team: Dustin Wolf (G, STK); Jordan Gross (D, COL); Jordan Spence (D, ONT); Stefan Noesen (F, CHI); Andrew Poturalski (F, CHI); T.J. Tynan (F, ONT).
2021–22 AHL First All-Star Team: Troy Grosenick (G, PRO); Jake Christiansen (D, CLE); Joseph Duszak (D, TOR); Martin Frk (F, ONT); Seth Griffith (F, BAK); Kiefer Sherwood (F, COL).
