After two games and two setbacks, the Calgary Flames will try to finish off the 2022 Young Stars Classic tournament on a winning note when they face the Winnipeg Jets. The Flames are trying to bounce back from a Saturday loss to Edmonton, while the Jets lost to Vancouver on Sunday.
The puck drops shortly after noon MT and you can catch the action streamed live on the Flames’ website and hear the action on Sportsnet 960 The Fan!

The Flames

Projected lines from the Flames site:
@Jakob Pelletier – @Cole Schwindt – @Adam Klapka
@Emilio Pettersen – @Connor Zary – @Walker Duehr
@Jack Beck – @Rory Kerins – @Lucas Ciona
@Cole Huckins/@Lucas Feuk – @Ilya Nikolaev – @Evan Boucher/@Cooper Walker
@Ilya Solovyov – @Jeremie Poirier
@Yan Kuznetsov – @Rhett Rhinehart
@Jake Lee – @Cole Jordan
@Simon Lavigne – @Christoffer Sedoff
No official word on goaltenders, with @Dustin Wolf, @Daniil Chechelev and @Brad Arvanitis available (and Chechelev and Arvanitis fresh). We have yet to see @Cooper Walker, @Jake Lee, @Cameron Whynot or @Parker Bell in game action as of yet, so perhaps we see them against Winnipeg.
It’s safe to say that the Flames wish they had gotten more out of their first two games. They have just a single goal courtesy of Jack Beck, and some of their more prominent prospects haven’t shined yet. But with one last tune-up before main camp opens later this week, this is a chance for the likes of Pelletier, Schwindt, Klapka and the others to really finish their Penticton stint off on a strong note.
Player to watch: Of the Flames’ top prospects, you could argue that Connor Zary has shown the most consistent flashes of strong play. He’s been smart with the puck and used his skills well to create chances, though not enough of them have gone into the net.

The Jets

Here’s how the Jets lined up against Vancouver on Sunday:
@Isaac Johnson – @Danny Zhilkin – @Chase Bertholet
@Wyatt Bongiovanni – @Cole Perfetti – @Greg Meireles
@Daniel Torgersson – @Henri Nikkanen – @Brad Lambert
@Brandon Cutler – @Chaz Lucius – @Tyler Boland
@Dmitry Kuzmin – @Simon Lundmark
@Anton Johannesson – @Dean Stewart
@Ethan Cap – @Tyrel Bauer
@Oskari Salminen was in net, with @Domenic Divincentiis backing up. @Arvid Holm, @Thomas Caron, @Simon Kubicek and @Wyatt Wilson were the scratches.
The Jets have also gone winless in their first two outings, losing 3-2 to Edmonton and 4-1 to Vancouver. Their goal-scorers so far have been Brad Lambert, Greg Meireles and Tyler Boland. They’re probably hoping some of their bigger-name prospects like Cole Perfetti or Danny Zhilkin can light the lamp this afternoon.
Player to watch: Chaz Lucius was a first-rounder in 2021 and was really impressive both in his draft year for the U.S. National Development Team and last season for the University of Minnesota.
