Flames Weekly Prospect Update: starting to wrap it up

Forwards

• A number of Heat players finally got back on the scoresheet this week. Austin Carroll, Daniel Pribyl, and Andrew Mangiapane had assists. Linden Vey, too, but he also scored a goal.
• The more regular scorers, Mark Jankowski and Hunter Shinkaruk, each had a goal and an assist.
• Tim Harrison scored Colgate’s lone goal this week. Colgate is very sad.
• Pavel Karnaukhov’s season has come to an end. He was called up to CSKA this past week in a fourth line role, probably to rest the Red Army for the KHL playoffs. It’ll be interesting to see if he gets any playoff time there.
• There’s a bad trend emerging among the Flames organization, as Mitchell Mattson was ejected early in a game for spearing.
• Matt Phillips: three games, three primary points. He’s very, very good. Tied for fourth in the WHL for 5v5 primary points, and top three for all situations primary points. We might be looking at the 2016 steal of the draft.
• Eetu scored a goal, which is a thing he likes to do.

Defenders

• A number of Heat defenders also returned to the scoresheet: Rasmus Andersson with a goal and Oliver Kylington with an assist.
• It’s good to know that, despite recent struggles, the Heat continue to remember the basic things: friendship is important.

• [ed. While we’re quoting my Stockton friend here, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention they had their wine tasting event over the weekend. You go taste wine with Heat players. The Swedes are still too young to go. I have been informed a number of Flames prospects are nice and/or adorable. – Ari]
• Brett Kulak returned to the AHL with a goal and an assist in his first game.
• By the time you finish reading this, Stepan Falkovsky has probably scored two more goals.
• Adam Fox’s stock continues to rise, notching a goal and an assist this past weekend.
• Brandon Hickey is out on a week-to-week basis with some sort of lower body injury, with no timetable for a return. Boston University wraps up their regular season schedule next week, and it’s unknown if he plays in the Hockey East tournament.
• Rushan Rafikov also wrapped up his season, but more on that later.

Goalies

• Tyler Parsons leads the OHL in SV% among regular starters, but he’s out day-to-day.
• Jon Gillies and David Rittich have been consistent over the recent few weeks. Some great games, some bad games.
