Holidays are over, back to work.

In case you missed it:

  • Here’s the last update from two weeks ago.
  • Your Hitmen report.
  • We took a look at our top 20 prospects from this summer and did some rethinking:
  • World Juniors is happening, and we’ve been keeping tabs on how Flames prospects are coming along:
  • Transaction news!

Dillon Dube – F, Stockton Heat, AHL – X

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date817854239.85
Change from last week3134332+7.97
Before coming up to Calgary, Dube put in a good body of work, picking up four points in three games. Will he stay in Calgary?

Zach Fischer – RW, Kansas City Mavericks, ECHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date190333223.63
Change from last week5011111+0.35
Picked up an assist in KC’s New Year’s Eve game.

Spencer Foo – RW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date329716912719.93
Change from last week6112111-1.54
For reasons we’ll see later, Foo’s window as a feasible NHL prospect is likely closed. If he scored a bit more often, you might wonder if he’s worth a spin, but he’s not even close to the conversation right now.

Glenn Gawdin – C/RW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date286612312317.08
Change from last week2000000-1.21
Likely injured. No word on what it is (if it even is an injury, though it would be weird if they were healthy scratching him) or how long he’ll be out.

Josh Healey – D, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date261455337.66
Change from last week4000000-1.4
Back from a three-game suspension.

D’Artagnan Joly – RW/C, Rimouski Oceanic

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date3412162817211319.18
Change from last week3112211-0.35
Since we last checked in on Joly, he’s been traded again. After forcing his way out of a toxic situation in Baie-Comeau, he landed with Victoriaville, who promptly flipped him to Rimouski without Joly ever suiting up for the Tigres.
He’s done well so far for his new team, picking up the late game-tying goal for the Oceanic in his first game, and an assist in his third game.

Pavel Karnaukhov – LW/C, CSKA Moscow, KHL/Zvezda, VHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date (KHL)1934776624.29
Change from last week5224444+6.31
Up to date (VHL)941555517.31
Change from last week
Don’t look now, but Karnaukhov is actually having a great year in the KHL. He’s struggled to get to Russia’s top league, but now he’s arrived and looking comfortable. I don’t think the Flames will ever sign him – the link was probably severed when he fled the WHL – but his recent strong play is something worth keeping an eye on. The Flames own his rights in perpetuity, so it’s not like there’s a deadline to bring him over.

Demetrious Koumontzis – LW, Arizona State University, NCAA (Independent)

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date22191049313.46
Change from last week2000000-1.34
Back from break, but no points for Koumontzis.

Oliver Kylington – D, Stockton Heat – X

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date187714810831
Change from last week
Still in Calgary. I’ve been tempted to remove him from this list, but I know as soon as I do he’ll be reassigned to Stockton.

Linus Lindstrom – C/LW, Skelleftea AIK, SHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date261122112.46
Change from last week5011100+0.96
Finally got his second point of the season. Still on the fourth line, though.

Ryan Lomberg – LW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date2234755312.68
Change from last week3101111+0.1
With Calgary healing up, he’s probably in Stockton for the long term. Picking up a key goal in a comeback effort against San Jose probably helps his case to come back up.

Andrew Mangiapane – LW/C, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date137714810742.92
Change from last week
On the IR. Once he clears, he’s likely headed back down to Stockton.

Mitchell Mattson – C/LW, Michigan State, NCAA (Big 10)

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date60000000
Change from last week
MSU played this week, but Mattson didn’t. Recurring theme.

Adam Ollas Mattsson – D, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date3036965311.96
Change from last week5112110+0.8
A goal and an assist for AOM, who continues to make a strong case for an ELC.

Andrew Nielsen – D, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date1605533212.45
Change from last week6011111-3.49
Cooling off after a hot start with the Heat.

Mathias Emilio Pettersen – C/LW, Denver Pioneers, NCAA (NCHC)

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date1651215710438.25
Change from last week4033221-0.32
Back in action, and still racking up the points. Obviously, he was never going to keep up the 2.0 PPG pace he started the season with, but I’m curious to see how he’ll finish heading into the NCAA hockey stretch.

Matthew Phillips – RW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date299101967626.11
Change from last week64610000+10.52
To bring it back to what I said about Foo earlier, Phillips has completely usurped him for Stockton. It’s impressive that Phillips has stepped up for Stockton, especially with the roster uncertainty and injuries they’ve piled up among their forwards. Phillips was definitely going to take time to acclimate to the pros, but he appears to be further along than what we thought. Contingent on him keeping up the torrid pace, however.

Brett Pollock – LW/C, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date27281076414.76
Change from last week5224242+3.89
Pollock has also stepped up. He may be further away than Phillips, but positive development is positive development. He started heating up around this point last year, so maybe he’s finally found his form.

Martin Pospisil – C/LW, Sioux City Musketeers, USHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date2211233418261238.67
Change from last week
At the WJC! He only has an assist through four games, but he has been getting under the skin of his opponents.

Rushan Rafikov – D, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, KHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date3536966516.95
Change from last week6011000-1.23
Played six games, picked up an assist.

Milos Roman – C, Vancouver Giants, WHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date301613291225823.94
Change from last week
Also at the WJC. Has two goals and an assist.

Adam Ruzicka – C/LW, Sarnia Sting, OHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date3311243516251328.09
Change from last week
Like Roman, Captain Slovakia has two goals and an assist thus far at the WJC.

Kerby Rychel – F, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date3015122719191335.87
Change from last week5246342+2.39
Picked up where he left off in Stockton.

Filip Sveningsson – LW, IK Oskarshamn, Allsvenskan

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date259918813735.19
Change from last week
At the WJC. No points in three games. He’s playing through illness, however, as he missed Sweden’s most recent game.

Eetu Tuulola – RW, HPK, SM-Liiga

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date3661420813620.59
Change from last week4033010-0.41
After a few silent weeks from Tuulola, he bounced back with three assists in his last two games, all coming on the powerplay.

Rinat Valiev – D, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date230553228.66
Change from last week2022000+2.97
Valiev picked up two assists, and then got hurt.

Dmitri Zavgorodniy – C/LW, Rimouski Oceanic, QMJHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date3719234223301728.08
Change from last week3011100-1.64
Just an assist from Zavgorodniy this week.

Jon Gillies – G, Stockton Heat

GPTOISV%
Up to date2211350.865

He had a mixed week. Started off stellar with a 0.929 SV% against Bakersfield, followed it up with two stinkers against Iowa and Tucson (0.822, 0.815 respectively) and finished with a relief appearance shutout on 14 shots.

Mason McDonald – G, Kansas City Mavericks

GPTOISV%
Up to date126740.907
Change from last week160+0.006
Played in one game this week (0.967 SV%) after a brief disappearance. Might be injured, because Nick Schneider hasn’t been playing well yet hasn’t received the hook in any of his games.

Tyler Parsons – G, Stockton Heat

GPTOISV%
Up to date63040.880
Change from last week3138+0.049
Has had a really stellar return for Stockton. Nearly shut out Iowa (0.969 SV%) and had an exceptional 39-save performance against Tucson (0.951 SV%). He did crumple against San Jose on New Year’s Eve, allowing six before getting pulled midway through the second (0.806 SV%). His defence didn’t help a lot, allowing 31 shots by about the halfway mark of the game.

Nick Schneider – G, Kansas City Mavericks

Schneider has the starter’s net in KC, but hasn’t been doing too well. He’s allowed three or more goals in each of his appearances this week.
