The Flames have found an impressive albeit short talent in the late rounds? You don’t say.

In case you missed it:

Yasin Ehliz – LW/RW, Stockton Heat

The new German import only factored into the season opener for the Heat. Took a shot on goal.

Spencer Foo – RW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date221323259.78
Change from last week
If there was anyone who positively stood out for the Heat, it was Foo. With two goals and an assist, he’s been involved in 50% of Stockton goals so far.

Glenn Gawdin – RW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date210111119.93

Stick taps to Gawdin, who picked up his first professional goal this weekend.

Josh Healey – D, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe

Suited up for both games this weekend.

D’Artagnan Joly – RW/C, Baie-Comeau Drakkar, QMJHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date854967426.2
Change from last week3202121-6.4
Joly picked up two goals this week, one at 5v5 and one on the powerplay. The 7-0-0-1 Drakkar are one of the most potent offences in the early goings of the QMJHL, second in goals for with 39, yet Joly seems to be falling behind the pack. He was second (first in PPG) in scoring on the Drakkar last season, but has fallen to fifth this season. Of course, it’s early in the year, but you hope that the gap doesn’t get wider as the year goes on.

Pavel Karnaukhov – LW/C, CSKA Moscow, KHL/Zvezda, VHL

Change from last week110111121.98

Karnaukhov also gets stick taps for picking up his first ever KHL goal.

Morgan Klimchuk – LW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date211211139.85
Change from last week
The only other AHL multi-point prospect was Klimchuk. It’s likely his last season with the Flames should he not make an NHL impact, so every game is going to be extremely important for the 2013 first rounder.

Demetrious Koumontzis – LW, Arizona State University, NCAA (Independent)

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date211222229.6
Change from last week
Koumontzis’ college career started with a bang, as he picked up the first goal of ASU’s season and added an assist in their weekend sweep of Alaska-Fairbanks. He was listed as the Sun Devils’ #1 left winger, for what it’s worth.
ASU will face a tougher challenge against #1 Ohio State this week.

Oliver Kylington – D, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date20000000
Change from last week
The only NHL-calibre defenceman left on Stockton’s roster post-Rasmus, Kylington had a pretty rough weekend, rougher than most of the defence. Tasked with essentially doing everything, he was kind of overloaded. Racked up six shots on net, though.

Linus Lindstrom – C/LW, Skelleftea AIK, SHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date71011114.57
Change from last week2000000-1.83
Despite top six ice time, Lindstrom has failed to do much with it besides his goal last week. Hasn’t recorded a shot in his last three outings, despite receiving around 14 minutes of ice time per night.

Ryan Lomberg – LW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date20000000
Change from last week
Played two games. Didn’t really do much, not even a penalty minute.

Andrew Mangiapane – LW/C, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date20000000
Change from last week
Four shots, but couldn’t crack the scoresheet.

Adam Ollas Mattsson – D, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date20000000
Change from last week
AOM played his first pro games since November of last year, but essentially got thrown into the fire alongside Kylington. Without a top pairing RHD, Ollas Mattsson was tasked with playing his offside. Didn’t go well.

Matthew Phillips – RW, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date10000000
Change from last week
Only played one game.

Martin Pospisil – C/LW, Sioux City Musketeers, USHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date324644245.92
Change from last week1011010-11.48
Just a mere assist for Pospisil in his lone game this week, but he’s still maintaining the 2.0 PPG average. Picked up his first penalties of the season though, but only four minutes’ worth.

Brett Pollock – LW/C, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date20000000
Change from last week
Suited up twice, racked up five shots, but was held off the scoresheet.

Rushan Rafikov – D, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, KHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date80000000
Change from last week30000000
Played three times this week.

Milos Roman – C, Vancouver Giants, WHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date714543217.69
Change from last week3123232+5.31
After a slow start, Roman seems to have found his spark. Hopefully he can continue building on that, as he was one of the more promising WHL draft eligibles before being injured last season.

Adam Ruzicka – C/LW, Sarnia Sting, OHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date633634326.49
Change from last week30330100
Ruzicka has kept up his PPG pace with three assists this week. He’s been particularly helpful on the Sting powerplay this season:

Kerby Rychel – F, Stockton Heat

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date210111119.93
Change from last week
Scored Stockton’s first goal of the season. If he wants to find his way to the NHL roster, it’s a good start:

Filip Sveningsson – LW, IK Oskarshamn, Allsvenskan

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date621312124.44
Change from last week20110000
Sveningsson picked up an assist this week. He’s one to keep an eye on, as he’s currently one point out of first for Allsvenskan U20 scoring.

Eetu Tuulola – RW, HPK, SM-Liiga

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date913422116.47
Change from last week2011111+0.59
Tuulola picked up an assist this week in Liiga action. He’s slowed down considerably from his hot start, so consistency is key for the young winger.

Dmitri Zavgorodniy – C/LW, Rimouski Oceanic, QMJHL

GPGAP5v5 PP15v5 P1NHLe
Up to date87815810643.67
Change from last week45510473+14.56
Zavgorodniy had multi-point games in all four of his outings this week, including a hat trick. Interestingly enough, Rimouski has appeared to break up Zavgorodniy and 2020 superstar Alexis Lafreniere, which is a testament to the Flames prospect’s dominance this week. The two were only on the ice together for two of Zav’s 10 points this weekend. It could be a blip, but if it isn’t, that’s very exciting.

Jon Gillies – G, Stockton Heat

Perhaps it’s rust (didn’t play since Sept. 22), but Gillies began the year on the completely wrong note. He was put into game action to relieve Parsons after he struggled against Bakersfield, but didn’t fare much better. He brought those struggles to the Heat home opener, where the team blew a four-goal lead.

Tyler Parsons – G, Stockton Heat

Parsons also had a rough go of it. Perhaps all Flames goaltending is cursed.
