FlamesNation prospect update: Eetu, brute?
According to a poorly translated tweet from the Finnish Liiga, it appears that our favourite philosopher Eetu Tuulola Dennis Wideman’d a linesman sometime yesterday. Hence, the title of this post (thank Bill for that one).
Hell, this version of the prospect update is packed with violence. Send the kids to bed early.
In case you missed it
- Here’s last week’s update.
- Looking at how Kris Versteeg’s injury could present an opportunity for Andrew Mangiapane.
Rasmus Andersson – D, Stockton Heat, AHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 17 | 2 | 10 | 12 | 6 | 5 | 5 | 27.2 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | -1.06 |
Another assist for Andersson this week. Nice to know at least one Flames RHD is having a good time.
Austin Carroll – RW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 6 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Finally got a shot and filled in for the departed Garnet Hathaway.
Dillon Dube – C/LW, Kelowna Rockets, WHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 25 | 16 | 20 | 36 | 19 | 26 | 14 | 34.24 |
Change from last week | 3 | 2 | 5 | 7 | 3 | 4 | 1 | 2.89 |
Dube might be the best junior talent the Flames have, which is a pretty bold yet completely dependable statement. The kid went off this week, adding five points for Kelowna. You’ve probably seen this goal already:
It’s amazing. Here’s another one, fewer dangles, but an equally slick shot:
Even when he doesn’t score, he makes moves:
Legitimate. He’s scored 10 points in his last five games, by the way.
Zach Fischer – RW, Spokane Chiefs, WHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 20 | 11 | 7 | 18 | 12 | 12 | 10 | 21.40 |
Change from last week | 3 | 2 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 1 | -2 |
Goal highlights are hard to find for Fischer, but you can always find highlights of him doing his second favourite thing: fighting.
Spencer Foo – RW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 19 | 1 | 6 | 7 | 4 | 6 | 3 | 14.2 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1.14 |
Another assist for Foo this week, who continues to be snakebitten. Among all forwards who have shot 40 times or more, Foo has the second worst SH% at 2.44. I say it every week, but it’s going to reverse one day.
Adam Fox – D, Harvard Crimson, ECAC
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 10 | 0 | 9 | 9 | 3 | 3 | 0 | 16.97 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0.47 |
There’s the Adam Fox we know: two assists in two games for the Harvard defenceman.
Glenn Gawdin – C/RW, Swift Current Broncos, WHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 27 | 23 | 30 | 53 | 29 | 43 | 21 | 46.68 |
Change from last week | 3 | 4 | 1 | 5 | 2 | 6 | 2 | -0.88 |
With another four goals this week, Gawdin is six points away from tying his previous career high, which was set in 52 games.
Josh Healey – D, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 14 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Change from last week | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Played a game of hockey.
D’Artagnan Joly – RW, Baie-Comeau Drakkar, QMJHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 19 | 9 | 10 | 19 | 10 | 18 | 10 | 20.50 |
Change from last week | 3 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 1 | 3 | 1 | 0 |
Joly had a pretty good week, scoring a goal and setting up two shorthanded goals for the Drakkar.
Pavel Karnaukhov – LW/C, CSKA Moscow, KHL/Zvezda, VHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
KHL current | 8 | 0 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 15.17 |
Change from last week | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
VHL current | 19 | 8 | 12 | 20 | 12 | 15 | 8 | 32.80 |
Change from last week | 2 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 0 | 2 | 0 | -2.03 |
He’s still yoyoing between the KHL and VHL. Three points in two games for Zvezda this week.
Morgan Klimchuk – LW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 20 | 9 | 5 | 14 | 9 | 12 | 9 | 26.98 |
Change from last week | 3 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | -0.85 |
Another week, another goal for Morgan Klimchuk. He’s been consistently putting pucks in the net recently.
Oliver Kylington – D, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 20 | 1 | 8 | 9 | 6 | 4 | 4 | 17.34 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0.21 |
A noise point for Kylington this week, but a point’s a point.
Linus Lindstrom – C/LW, Skelleftea AIK, SHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 24 | 2 | 1 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 5.95 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1.63 |
Notched an assist this week. Lindstrom is also likely to go to Sweden’s camp for the WJC. Being a third line centre in a men’s league as a teenager is a pretty tough resume to argue against.
Ryan Lomberg – LW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 19 | 2 | 2 | 4 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 8.11 |
Change from last week | 2 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1.31 |
Lomberg was an assist shy of the Gordie Howe hat trick against Bakersfield. Here’s the fight…
… and here’s the goal.
Andrew Mangiapane – LW/C, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 20 | 9 | 13 | 22 | 14 | 16 | 11 | 42.39 |
Change from last week | 2 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | -2.57 |
Just a goal for Mangiapane this week. He’s slowed down considerably given his torrid start to the season.
Mitchell Mattson – C/LW, Sioux Falls Stampede, USHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 20 | 6 | 4 | 10 | 9 | 8 | 7 | 11.48 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -1.28 |
No points for Mattson this week.
Adam Ollas Mattsson – D, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 13 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
No points for this Mattsson, either.
Matthew Phillips – C/RW, Victoria Royals, WHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 31 | 21 | 26 | 47 | 19 | 34 | 13 | 36.05 |
Change from last week | 4 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | -4.46 |
Like Mangiapane, Phillips is finding a bit of difficulty after a wild start to the season. Just a meagre goal this week in four games. It’s not for a lack of trying, as he’s had 23 shots in those four games, including nine against Swift Current.
Emile Poirier – LW/RW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 19 | 2 | 9 | 11 | 7 | 8 | 4 | 22.31 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | -0.36 |
Poirier’s found a spot as a puck distributor, having consistently picked up an assist in the past three weeks.
Brett Pollock – LW/C, Stockton Heat, AHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 7 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 5.51 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 5.51 |
Congrats to Pollock, who picked up his first AHL point. He’s centering a line with Mangiapane and Foo, for some reason.
Daniel Pribyl – RW/C, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Still injured.
Rushan Rafikov – D, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, KHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 36 | 1 | 10 | 11 | 10 | 7 | 6 | 18.54 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -1.09 |
Two games played for Rafikov this week.
Adam Ruzicka – C/LW, Sarnia Sting, OHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 29 | 17 | 18 | 35 | 13 | 31 | 9 | 29.69 |
Change from last week | 3 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | -2.48 |
Also can’t keep up with a hot start. Just an assist this week.
Hunter Shinkaruk – F, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 18 | 5 | 2 | 7 | 2 | 6 | 2 | 14.99 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -1.87 |
No points for Shinkaruk this week.
Hunter Smith – RW, Kansas City Mavericks, ECHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 21 | 6 | 5 | 11 | 11 | 11 | 11 | 12.02 |
Change from last week | 3 | 2 | 1 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 1.82 |
Smith has gone from five points in a week to zero points in a week to three points in a week. Odd guy.
Filip Sveningsson – LW, HV71, Superelit/SHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
SHL current | 6 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Superelit current | 15 | 8 | 12 | 20 | 12 | 15 | 8 | 21.87 |
Change from last week | 1 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | -0.39 |
Sveningsson saw some SHL action (they have him listed at three minutes average TOI) and scored a goal in the Superelit this week. He’s a darkhorse for Sweden’s WJC squad, but I’m personally cheering for him. Kid is exciting.
Eetu Tuulola – RW, HPK, SM-Liiga
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 24 | 7 | 1 | 8 | 3 | 7 | 3 | 11.75 |
Change from last week | 3 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1.68 |
A goal and an assist this week for Eetu, who was also named to Finland’s WJC camp.
Also, from up above, it appears Tuulola Wideman’d a linesman and will get a call from Liiga’s discipline office.
Juuso Valimaki – D, Tri-City Americans, WHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 16 | 5 | 12 | 17 | 8 | 12 | 8 | 25.27 |
Change from last week | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Ditto for Valimaki, who is expected to captain that squad. He’s out from WHL action due to injury.
Tyler Wotherspoon – D, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 20 | 2 | 10 | 12 | 7 | 7 | 6 | 23.12 |
Change from last week | 2 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 1.71 |
A goal and an assist for Wotherspoon this week. Has he earned an NHL look?
Jon Gillies – G, Stockton Heat
GP | TOI | SV% | SA | |
Current | 12 | 715.87 | 0.921 | 369 |
Change from last week | 1 | 60 | 0.003 | 28 |
Gillies came up big for Stockton in their weekend clash against Bakersfield, stopping 27 of 28 (0.964SV%). Here’s some good saves:
Mason McDonald – G, Kansas City Mavericks, ECHL
GP | TOI | SV% | SA | |
Current | 8 | 426 | 0.875 | 192 |
Change from last week | 1 | 60 | 0.002 | 25 |
If goaltending doesn’t work out for McDonald (it really isn’t), he could switch positions and become an enforcer.
I’m not sure why the audio sounds like it’s recorded in a basement, but a goalie brawl is always a lot of fun.
Tyler Parsons – G, Kansas City Mavericks
GP | TOI | SV% | SA | |
Current | 16 | 897 | 0.906 | 509 |
Change from last week | 2 | 117 | -0.003 | 57 |
Parsons had a rough week, stopping 50 of 57 (0.877) in two appearances.
David Rittich – G, Stockton Heat – X
GP | TOI | SV% | SA | |
Current | 6 | 359.7 | 0.931 | 188 |
Change from last week | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
In the NHL for the time being.
Nick Schneider – G, Calgary Hitmen, WHL
GP | TOI | SV% | SA | |
Current | 24 | 1418 | 0.889 | 738 |
Change from last week | 2 | 123 | 0 | 63 |
Another good game/bad game week for Schneider. He started off rough by allowing four goals on 28 shots (0.857) but finished strong by stopping 32 of 35 (0.914).
