HGD 13: Heat look to grow gap atop the Pacific Division with rematch in Ontario (8:00 p.m. MT)

Fresh off their 4–2 win over the Ontario Reign on Sunday, the Stockton Heat will try to do it again at the Toyota Arena in Ontario on Monday.

@Jakob Pelletier, @Matthew Phillips, and @Byron Froese each had two points for Stockton in the victory. Phillips picked up primary assists on Stockton’s first two goals; Pelletier and Froese scored the first and third Heat goals, respectively.

@Dustin Wolf stopped 31 of the 33 shots he faced against Ontario on Sunday and was named the game’s first star for his efforts. The 20-year-old goaltender is now 6–0–2 with a .931 save percentage in eight appearances this season.

@Adam Werner will likely start for Stockton on Monday. He’s a perfect 4–0–0 with a .922 save percentage to start the 2021–22 season. The 24-year-old Swede is on a one-year contract with the Flames and will likely become a Group 6 unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.

@Glenn Gawdin recorded the primary assist on @Luke Philp’s last-second empty-net goal in Ontario on Sunday. With the helper, Gawdin moved into first place on the Stockton Heat all-time scoring leaderboard with 110 points (32 goals, 78 assists) in 149 games. @Ryan Lomberg now sits in second with 109 points in 219 games; Phillips ranks third with 105 points in 146 contests.

Stockton — @Byron Froese. Stockton’s captain already has twice as many points as he managed last season despite having played five fewer games. The 30-year-old forward has three goals and 10 points in 10 games, most recently adding two points in the win over Ontario on Sunday. If Froese can connect with @Connor Zary at 5-on-5, the Heat could get some serious secondary scoring.

Ontario — @Vladimir Tkachev. Once upon a time, Tkachev was “Vladdy Hockey” to Edmonton Oilers fans. Seven years after the Oilers unsuccessfully attempted to sign Tkachev to an entry-level deal, he’s officially in North America as a member of the Los Angeles Kings organization. He managed two assists in his first four NHL games with the Kings before being demoted to Ontario, where he’s been on fire with 10 points in six games.
