Calgary Flames forward @Matthew Tkachuk waited until literally the last possible moment to score the game-tying goal in the third period of Tuesday’s game against the Nashville Predators.
Noted for his history of theatrical goals in Nashville, Tkachuk pulled another rabbit out of his hat to tie the game with one tenth of a second remaining in regulation time at Bridgestone Arena.
Tkachuk jammed the puck through Predators goaltender @David Rittich to make it a 4–4 game with 0.1 seconds on the clock, somehow keeping the Flames alive in one of the wildest games in recent memory.
@Rasmus Andersson and @Johnny Gaudreau picked up the helpers on Tkachuk’s 41st goal of the season, which officially came at the 19:59 mark of the period.
@Elias Lindholm capped off the improbable comeback in overtime, unleashing a long-range wrister that trickled through Rittich before barely crossing the goal line.
@Dillon Dube led the way for the Flames with a pair of goals in regulation time, with @Noah Hanifin also scoring for the visitors; @Filip Forsberg tallied twice for Nashville after @Roman Josi and @Matt Duchene scored the Predators’ first two goals.
Calgary finally has a win against Nashville in 2021–22 after falling in extra time by a 3–2 score in each of the first two meetings of the season. The Flames will play their 81st game of the year on Thursday when they visit the Minnesota Wild at 6:00 p.m. MT.
